I have been infected with Pipas.A, and, as with so many other posters here, it just won't go away. I have followed the instructions in "Before you post a log" (using BitDefender), and run a SpyBot scan, and it's still there!

Here is the HijackThis log:

If I'm allowed another, related question: while I was running BitDefender, I got Trojan infection warnings from Norton several times--is this normal?

Oh, I should make clear that I'm running a Swedish language Windows XP. Yes, "Delade filer" means "Shared files".

hi

If I'm allowed another, related question: while I was running BitDefender, I got Trojan infection warnings from Norton several times--is this normal?
this happens as both scanners scan the same file, you could next time try disabling NAV real time protection for the duration of the scan

You may want to print out these instructions for reference, since you will have to restart your computer during the fix.

Please download FixWareout from one of these sites:
http://downloads.subratam.org/Fixwareout.exe
http://swandog46.geekstogo.com/Fixwareout.exe

Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, then make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish. The fix will begin; follow the prompts. You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so. Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.

When your system reboots, follow the prompts. Afterwards, HijackThis will launch. Please click Scan, and check the following items(if there):

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [felejeh] C:\WINDOWS\felejeh.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KernelFaultCheck] %systemroot%\system32\dumprep 0 -k
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [dmcwi.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\dmcwi.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [desktop] C:\WINDOWS\system32\idemlog.exe
O16 - DPF: {56336BCB-3D8A-11D6-A00B-0050DA18DE71} - http://software-dl.real.com/20b4cd985899421b0816/netzip/RdxIE601.cab
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{413E61FE-B4C7-4798-8B56-CB45CB717A46}: NameServer = 85.255.116.146,85.255.112.225
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{8E51EECE-91C7-4836-9CF2-230F0675DBF0}: NameServer = 85.255.116.146,85.255.112.225

If you see a new item that wasnt in your last log in your O4 lines in hijackthis, starting with dm... for example:
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [dm***.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\dm***.exe (the *** stand for random letters)
or starting with hg***.exe for example:
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [hg***.exe] C:\Windows\System32\hg***.exe
or starting with cs***.exe for example:
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [cscyd.exe] cscyd.exe
Check it as well. If your not sure, leave it and only check the ones I asked you to check
===========================================================
Click Fix Checked. Close HijackThis, and click OK to proceed.

Finally, please post the contents of report.txt (it should open), along with a new HijackThis log.

Note:
If You have connection problems or those 017's ~ O17 - HKLM~ 85.255.116.166 85.255.112.18, return =>
Before doing this write down all the settings, Note that not all system/setups even have these settings, while some connection service's will require them.
In the windows control panel: If you are using Windows XP's Category View, select the Network and Internet Connections category otherwise double click on Network Connections. Then right click on your default connection, usually local area connection for cable and dsl, and left click on properties. Double-click on the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) item and select the radio dial that says Obtain DNS servers automatically
Press OK twice to get out of the properties screen and reboot if it asks.
That option might not be available one some systems

hi

well done :bigthumb:

this file needs to go:

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DMCWI.EXE

after deleting it :

Please do an online scan with Kaspersky WebScanner (http://www.kaspersky.com/service?chapter=161739400)

Click on Kaspersky Online Scanner

You will be promted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.
The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT

Now click on Scan Settings
In the scan settings make that the following are selected:
Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
Extended (if available otherwise Standard)

Scan Options:
Scan Archives
Scan Mail Bases

Click OK
Now under select a target to scan:Select My Computer

This will start the program and scan your system.
The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
Now click on the Save as Text button:
Save the file to your desktop.
Copy and paste that information in your next post.

also post a final hijackthis log

hi

looks good

are you still having problems?

one question: have you disabled some autostart items with msconfig ?
if so, enable them back again, then reboot
do a fresh scan with hijackthis and post its log

most of the viruses detected are either in your NIS folders( quarantine, spam)
or in system restore. you can delete all in nortons quarantine, same for the junk mail folder
we will handle those C:\System Volume Information\_restore items later

Yes, I had disabled two items in msconfig.

Followed your instructions, here is the new log:

hi

I notice that you have Spybot's TeaTimer running. While this is normally a wonderful tool to protect against hijackers, it can also interfere with HijackThis fixes. So please disable TeaTimer by doing the following:
Run Spybot-S&D
Go to the Mode menu, and make sure "Advanced Mode" is selected
On the left hand side, choose Tools -> Resident
Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts
You can reenable TeaTimer once your system is clean.

checkmark/fix these items with hijackthis:
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [felejeh] C:\WINDOWS\felejeh.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [dmcwi.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\dmcwi.exe

reboot

post a final hijackthis log

The log looks pretty good now, I think. :)

I noticed, though, that Norton still reports it is not activated at start up, something I thought was related to virus activity. It then goes right to activated mode. What might this be?
