Hi

After running SD I have this weird problem that new IE browser windows are placed about 20 pix from the top and 20 pix from the left.
Not the first window !
It will be placed where it used to, as close to max as possible,
but all the following, if I SHIFT click on a link.
Very annoying !!!

So I thought that I could make a system restore,
since I made a system backup when installing SD.
But how can I do that ?
There's nothing to see under Tools.

I hesitate to even respond. See caution below.

Optionally there are two files created when the registry backup are taken during the installation of Spybot:
regLocal.reg
regUsers.reg
Depending on the OS, they are stored in:
Windows 95/98
C:\Windows\Application Data\Spybot - Search & Destroy\Backups
Windows ME
C:\Windows\All Users\Application Data\Spybot - Search & Destroy\Backups
Windows NT/2000/XP
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Spybot - Search & Destroy\Backups
If you double click on these files they will be merged into the registry.

Be careful restoring large portions of the Registry it may have undesired results!!! I personally would not do it. Besides, if the problem was caused by the removal of malware you may be putting that malware back on your system.

Other options:
Maximize and resize the windows so they don't cascade down and to the right when you open them.
Assuming that this happened when you scanned and fixed something, go into Spybot > Recovery and recover what you fix that caused the problem. Again, if the problem was caused by the removal of malware you may be putting that malware back on your system.

Thanx

I know where the files are, win xp2,
but I thought there was a tool for the restore.

I have restored what I have removed, but no change.

Never mind, I will make a system restore via the xp build in wizard,
I have tried that, it works, but I looses a lot of changes then.

Back again

Have made sys rest on xp,
fixed everything,
reinstalled SP,
checked for problems.
No problems
Seems that it was NOT SP that was causing the IE problem !

The only thing I did remove earlyer was the Zonemap.Ranges.

just to terminate this tread.
