I'm still running on 1.4.
During "Check for Problems" SD attaches my network connection - I discovered this as I used a GSM connection to my network - this connection was used as long as SD was running and SD check was incredible slow! (Three seconds per entry...)
After closing of the connection SD was "fast" as normal.
There wasn't anything else on my computer which does this network usage at this time.
I didn't detect this before as my normal connection is LAN oe WLAN.
What does SD do in my network???
I didn't put on a network sniffer so far to check the targets
