A way to install spybots&c on comp not currently net connected so unable to update?

Hi there,

I am trying to help a friend sort out their infected laptop.

I have downloaded Spybot and used memory stick to install onto the laptop, but it will not run without doing updates, which - as there is no connection - cannot be done.

Is there anyway of overriding this, or a file I can download that will not want the updates first?

Is it possible to download all the updates on one computer before saving to stick and installing on laptop?

Hope that makes sense.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can download and install the detection updates manually as follows:
  • Download the update file (spybotsd_includes.exe) from safer-networking.org:
  • The item is:
    • Detection updates 2007-12-12 - product description
      md5: 36C4C1456889C31A740C4B2AC1036A89

      This updates the detection rules. Only needed if you do not want to use the update function integrated into Spybot-S&D.
  • Note: The direct link for that download is:
  • Execute the downloaded file (spybotsd_includes.exe) on the offline computer to update Spybot.
