Hello,
I am running Spybot S&D version 1.5.1.17
There is no progress bar showing when updating. When the update completes the bar shows up in blue for just a second.
I have downloaded a fix:
SDUpdate.exe-1.0.8.6-2007-12-18

Is it the latest fix? and will it work? (has anyone tried it?)

Thanks to the Team for all the hard work.

hi,

the latest beta 1.5.1.18, doesn't have that bug fixed. As for that fix posted by PepiMK, I haven't got around to download it since it a small bug.

But the next beta (1.5.1.19 - coming out in a month or so, I think!) will have that bug fixed.

Thanks for the reply honda12,
Will wait as you suggest for the new beta. My version of Spybot S&D works fine except for the progress bar of the update window. I only have 30 hours a month dial up internet connection so it would be good if the progress bar worked. Will wait a while and see what happens on the forums.
Thanks again.

That fix mentioned includes an updated SDUpdate.exe where it is fixed (not the full package though, so you manually need to put the included file into an existing Spybot-S&D folder).

Thanks for the reply pepiMK.

I have extracted the file from the zip download. Do I now have to replace the SDUpdate application in the Spybot program folder with the new one?

Thanks.

I have downloaded the file SDUpdate.exe-1.0.8.6-2007-12-18

I renamed the original file SDUpdateold.exe just in case I wanted to go back to it.

I then copied the new SDUpdate.exe into the program folder.

I open the program and when I click the update icon a window opens asking if I want to run the file! I clicked yes and the update runs with the progress bar showing the download progress. Have I done something wrong?

If I have then how do I install the SDUpdate.exe-1.0.8.6-2007-12-18 correctly so that I do not get the pop up window?

Thanks again to all the team.

Sounds like you did everything correctly :)

Depending on your Windows and IE version, the behaviour you wrote seems normal: Windows remembers which files have been downloaded from the net, and asks you if you really want to run them the first time you try.

Or does that happen more than once (the first time)?

Hello Pepimk,

Running windows xp, IE7.

I have clicked the update button again and windows asks if I want to run this file. However I notice there is a tick box saying "do not ask again". I have ticked this box and now each time I click update the pop up is not there. The update window opens as normal.

It has taken a while but I now have Spybot S&D working well (smug! :)

Thanks for your help. Happy New Year to all the team.
