Hey, Norton keeps saying I have downloader virus. Can't get rid of it though. Heres HJT and kaspersky log.

Hi Dan, all I see in the HJT log is a resource waster, see this:
C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Common\ViewpointService.exe
For your information, Viewpoint is installed by aol probably without your knowledge. I suggest you uninstall this resource waster in Add Remove programs.

You get to make that call.

You have posted an out of date HJT log, read the directions and update to version 2.0.2 and post a new log, it may show something the old version does not.

Might as well look at the scan results:
Not sure why you have all of these, but remove them all. Smitfraudfix does not update so you must downlaod it new if you need it. I will highlite in red the items to delete.
Norton might be seeing any of this as malware? I do not use Symantec, does it not tell you the name of the "downloader" and the location?

Norton didn't give any information about the location of the infection. It's possible that the downloader was deleted and my comps just laggy because of the viewpoint. Thanks for any help.

Save HJTInstall.exe to your desktop.
Doubleclick on the HJTInstall.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
Click on Install.
It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" and Paste the entire contents of the log (no attachments) into your (Click --> ) own new topic
please read the directions, download the correct version and post a new HJT log.

I will have information to help your "laggy" computer as soon as I see a HJT log from version 2.0.2 and you tell me you have seen a clean Kaspersky scan.

Thanks, not seeing any malware in the HJT log, let me have a look at your uninstall list.

Open Hijackthis.
Click the "Open the Misc Tools" section Button.
Click the "Open Uninstall Manager" Button.
Click the "Save list..." Button.
Save it to your desktop. Copy and paste the contents into your reply.
(You may edit out Microsoft, Hotfixes, Security Update for Windows XP, Update for Windows XP and Windows XP Hotfix to shorten the list)

Thanks for returning your information, I look for bad stuff and security issues. It's a good chance for you to see stuff you no longer use.

The hackers use old Java (other outdated programs also) to exploit and infect you. I suggest you make sure you have the newest Java version and remove any old, unless you are using any of this for something I am not aware of.
