I'm trying to get my mom's computer clean and I'm not exactly sure what is going on with it.

I've run SpyBot 1.5 and fixed as many things as I could
I cannot access the Kaspersky Online scan
I have to run in SafeMode to even have some function, otherwise system resources are maxed.

Please copy and paste C:\WINNT\System32\crack.exe in the text box next to the Browse button.
Click on Send File.

For Jotti

Please copy and paste C:\WINNT\System32\crack.exe in the text box next to the Browse button.
Click on Submit.

Please download and install CCleaner Slim (http://www.ccleaner.com/download/builds/downloading-slim).
Once installed, double click on the desktop shortcut created.
On the leftmost column, click on Tools.
On the middle column, click on Uninstall.
At the bottom right hand corner, click on the Save to text file... button.
By default, it saves this file to C:\Program Files\CCleaner named install.txt. You may want to save it to your desktop to find it easily. Click Save.
Close CCleaner.

1. I cannot generate a HJT log while in normal mode. My system resources get maxed and the program hangs before finishing. I can never get it to run again because by the time I get another shot, there are over 200 processes started and more popping up by the second.

2. When I try to scan for the crack.exe file (in safe mode) it cannot by found.

That's a lot of processes. Let's clear some junk first.

If you already have Combofix, please delete this copy and download it again as it's being updated regularly.

Please download Combofix from Bleeping Computer (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe). Save it to your desktop. This is important.

If you can't download it, please try these 2 alternative sites:

Forospyware (http://www.forospyware.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe)
Geeks to Go (http://subs.geekstogo.com/ComboFix.exe)

Click on Start > Run and copy and paste the following in brown into the Run box.

"%userprofile%\Desktop\ComboFix.exe" /killall

Combofix will start running. Once done, it will reboot and a log will be produced. Please post that log and a new HijackThis log in your next reply.

Do not mouse click on Combofix while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

quick question...should I run combofix in normal mode or can i do it in safe mode?

In Normal Mode. Combofix runs best there.

I'm not sure how long CombFix is supposed to take to complete its task, but so far it's been taking a long time. An application error has popped up

AOLHostManager .exe - Application error
The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000142). Click OK to terminate the application.

The AOLHostManager is the task that is being duplicated in the hundreds and using all the resources

I haven't clicked ok, as I don't want to stall ComboFix, yet I have no idea if it is already stalled.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I'm sorry if I'm misunderstanding, but when I run ComboFix, which I can barely get going before the resources are sucked, I keep getting the AOLHostManager.exe errors. I hit ok, but it keeps coming back up. So, I'm wondering what to do. Still can't get ComboFix to complete, and still no HJT log as a result. :(
