Hi. I am working on cleaning up a laptop. AVG found no threats during any of my scans, but upon running Spybot S&D, it found over 40, including virtumonde, virtumonde generic, and a few others I did not recognize. I had it attempt to clear them, and since then it has been unable to find anything. However, the Kapersky scan did find some items (even after the S&D cleaning), and I've run into a sort of block. Nothing currently on the laptop can find the threats, but Kapersky continues to tell me they exist. I have used spywareblaster, ad-aware, AVG, and SBSD, all with similarly empty results. I followed all the steps in your "Before you post" post, and the logs are below.

Hi Dagmoth

1. Download combofix from any of these links and save it to Desktop:
Link 1 (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe)
Link 2 (http://www.forospyware.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe)
Link 3 (http://subs.geekstogo.com/ComboFix.exe)

**Note: It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**

2. Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
3. When finished, it shall produce a log for you (C:\ComboFix.txt). Post that log in your next reply

Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall

Combofix should never take more that 20 minutes including the reboot if malware is detected.
If it does, open Task Manager then Processes tab (press ctrl, alt and del at the same time) and end any processes of findstr, find, sed or swreg, then combofix should continue.
If that happened we want to know, and also what process you had to end.

Thank you for your assist. I did as you asked. I was watching the task manager while ComboFix ran, and I noticed numerous processes start up and end faster than I could read. However, I did not run into any freezing problems. At any rate, here are the logs.

Save this as "CFScript"

Then drag the CFScript into ComboFix.exe as you see in the screenshot below.

This will start ComboFix again. After reboot, (in case it asks to reboot), post the contents of Combofix.txt in your next reply together with a new HijackThis log.

Combofix should never take more that 20 minutes including the reboot if malware is detected.
If it does, open Task Manager then Processes tab (press ctrl, alt and del at the same time) and end any processes of findstr, find, sed or swreg, then combofix should continue.
If that happened we want to know, and also what process you had to end.

Hi

I recommend to uninstall MyWaySA via add/remove programs
as it's considered as adware:

C:\Program Files\MyWaySA\SrchAsDe\1.bin\deSrcAs.dll Infected: not-a-virus:AdWare.Win32.MyWay.v skipped

After that:

Please do an online scan with Kaspersky Online Scanner (http://www.kaspersky.com/downloads/kws/kavwebscan.html). You will be prompted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.
The program will launch and then start to download the latest definition files.
Once the scanner is installed and the definitions downloaded, click Next.
Now click on Scan Settings
In the scan settings make sure that the following are selected:

o Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:

+ Extended (If available otherwise Standard)

o Scan Options:

+ Scan Archives
+ Scan Mail Bases

Click OK
Now under select a target to scan select My Computer
The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run. Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
Now click on the Save as Text button
Save the file to your desktop.
Copy and paste that information in your next post.

Note: This scanner will work with Internet Explorer Only!

Note for Internet Explorer 7 users: If at any time you have trouble with the accept button of the license, click on the Zoom tool located at the right bottom of the IE window and set the zoom to 75 %. Once the license accepted, reset to 100%.

I attempted to remove the program. When I did so, it said I needed to reboot in order to complete the removal. I did so. However, after the reboot when I went to check the add/remove program window, I saw that it was still listed there, only without the remove button. Here are the new reports. You will notice that Kapersky is still finding items.

Hi

To access the Uninstall Manager you would do the following:

1. Start HijackThis
2. Click on the Config button
3. Click on the Misc Tools button
4. Click on the Open Uninstall Manager button.

You will now be presented with a screen similar to the one below:

5. Now highlight that MyWaySA entry and click Delete this entry.

Is it now gone?

Delete these:

Logs look good.

All viruses are in system restore and inactive.

I give you later instructions how to empty it.
