Okay, this is my first post. I have been using spy bot search and destroy version 1.5 for a while. In the past, I have been getting the frendly.dll file (or simular dll error) when the program would load and after one or two tries of click on the shortcut on the desktop, the program would load and everything would be okay. I moved the dll file to the location where all dll files exist and I added the correct path to the file. I have corrected the dll error, but now when I click on the shortcut on the desktop, spy bot will not load unless I click on the shortcut 4 to 5 times. Is there a reason why spy bot will not load the first time I click on the short cut. I did an install of version 1.5 over version 1.4 and I have even tried uninstalling all versions of spy bot and re-installing version 1.5 to see if the problem would go away, but the samething happens each time. By the way, I am running windows xp home edition.

Edward2008:

Is it really a case were Spybot "… will not load unless I click on the shortcut 4 to 5 times." or could it just be a case that Spybot is taking an inordinate amount of time to start while you are clicking away?

Check the version Spybot you are running by going into Spybot > Help > About. If you are running Spybot – Search Destroy 1.5.1.15 the problem is probably not that Spybot is not starting unless you click the "… shortcut 4 to 5 times.". There were many reports of Spybot 1.5.1.15 starting slowly. The problem has been found and fixed. See the following tracking task (which includes a link for a fix to the problem):

In addition there are another beta versions of Spybot 1.5 that solve the slow start as well as other known problems that have been encountered since the original release of Spybot 1.5. The latest is:

re: The error you were originally getting.

If the error you were getting was:
"Application Has Failed to Start Because Framedyn.dll Was Not Found"
The problem is usually caused by a bad path to the Framedyn.dll file rather than a missing Framedyn.dll file. If you copied the Framedyn.dll file to another location to fix the problem that may cause problems if that file is ever updated. It would be wise to fix the problem by correcting/adding the path statement as outlined in this article and eliminate the extra copy you made of the file:
