I am new to the forum but need to ask a question. I downloaded the software today and when I got to the step in the wizard to update I got an error.
Everything appears to be okay. It was slow opening but I was able to do a scan and then fix problems.
The error I got was Create Process failed code 193
%1 is not a valid Win32 application
it showed Windows/Temp/is-63sa3.tmp/spybotsd-includes.exe
I hope this makes sense. Do I need to do anything to correct this error?
Thanks
hi,
The slow startup issue is not related to your other problem - many people experienced their spybot opening slowly (for the fix download the spybot beta, but most users just cope with it as it is not a major issue)
As for the error:
-when do you get the error?
-did it only happen once?

I got the error only once during the download. I think it was on step 3 of the wizard where it has you check for updates. It continued on and the updates show they were done. I never got the screen that the tutorial mentions about selecting the proxy, though.
After I exited the update screen my system hung up and I had to reboot.
As I said I was able to do a scan and fix which appeared to work with no problem.
I really don't know if this is an issue or not.
Thanks,
well as long as it was a 'one off' error and you are not having any problems. Im sure spybot will be fine! ;)
Anyway - spybot 1.5.2 is going to come out soon! :)
I suspect its a Trojan on your machine. I too am now getting that after having it run perfect for months.
Also my anti-virus programs no longer run either.
Trojan had/has (cause I'm still fighting to remove it! :banghead:) an executable wintems.exe. It has also removed the ability to get in to safemode.
Went to the recover console off the boot cd I have deleted the exe from c:\windows\system32 and it no longer shows up in task manager, but still my anti-virus/spyware won't run, nor install.
Hello,
but still my anti-virus/spyware won't run, nor install.
If you would like some help in removing the infection causing that, follow the procedure in this link:
"BEFORE you POST"(READ this Procedure BEFORE Requesting Assistance) (http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=288)
Then start your own thread in the Malware Removal Forum (http://forums.spybot.info/forumdisplay.php?f=22) where a helper will advise you when available.
Cheers.
