Hey guys,

This one has been driving me crazy I have tried all the tricks in the book and can;t seem to find the tiny piece that keeps coming back to haunt me. Any ideas would be appreciated. Here is the HJ log...GMER is running now.

I didn't mention that I have the usual symptoms. BSOD on Safe mode, Mcafee wiped out, self replicating, a DOWN directory in windows/system32/drivers that continually gets files (228837.exe, etc).

I have tried several rootkit programs and can locate the hidden files below, but they just come back. I am missing something thats for sure!

I couldn't wait any longer...I fought with this for four days and I am an MCSE! Wintems, etc is a TOUGH root kit virus.

Copied all data to a USB drive and re-formatted using the system recovery discs. Back in business in a few hours.

Sometimes a spring cleaning is a good thing...my box is nice, clean and running faster than it has in years.

Thanks for letting us know, the infection is a tough one, all volunteer helpers can not clean all infections, the hackers create or modify them faster than we can learn.
