Hi

I think ive downloaded Wareout (judging by other forums) and it keeps on redirecting my searches to other sites. Ive tried doing something about it (AVG, Spybot S&D) but nothing seems to help.

This is my Hijackthis log

Good work

Put in place a good hosts file
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm
How To Download and Extract the HOSTS file:
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts2.htm
How did that go ?
Replace it about once monthly to keep it updated

To help avoid reinfection see "So how did I get infected in the first place?"

Post back in a few days to let us know if there are any problems or not..

Hi Lonny

i did the hosts thing and that seemed to go well.

Read the how did I get infected posting thoroughly and fully understand that.

Had an instance of the Pipas.A virus, as found by Spybot, and fixed that. I noticed on another thread here that some people have trouble with that coming back on the next reboot, so i checked it after a reboot and it seems to not be there anymore.

Everything appears to be running smoothly with no problems::bigthumb:

So in conclusion, thanks heaps for your help and patience. I now have a better understanding of the situation and hopefully wont need to bother you again. A bit of care in downloading is what i need to practice and i now will. I can also recognize problems before they become too much of an issue.

Thanks again for your excellent help.

Im Glad we could help
Since the problems are solved Im going to close the topic now, this keeps others with similar problems from posting there logs/question here, they should start a new topic.
If you should need to post another log for the same PC let Me or Tashi know.
