Hi i recently bought a computer and decided to add some protection. My first choice was Spybot S&D 1.5, but after having installed the program, i couldn't get it to start from the shotrcut on the desktop (only from start menu) also the updates wouldn't work.
Before getting SSD i accidently downloaded spywarebot mistaking it for SSD I only realized this when the program was installed, so had to uninstall but not sure if everything is deleted (never heard of spywarebot). Also uninstalled SSD and dl'ed another .exe, but the problems were still there.
Then i went to Compatibility list (what i should have done in the first place!) and i couldnt believe that Norton was on that list! I'm sorry for having made u read this whole msg to get to this conclusion, not even sure if this is the right forum, but i had to let someone know of my frustration towards Symantec and the rest of the software gangsters. After having read the 2006 article;I will gladly donate to the Spybot Team if they decide to make it a legal issue, or if this problem could be fixed. of course the legal issue is more important, so more donations.
I operate on Vista sadly (i just got this computer) and Norton 2008 is pre-installed with 60day trial i think. Is there anything that can be done to get it working properly with norton? If not, then i guess 1 will be shopping for a new anti-virus in 30 days or so! also is spywarebot safe to operate? if dangerous, how can i completely remove it from hard drive?
Tx in advance
