View Full Version : Unable to remove Smitfraud-C.CoreService

An empty IE window open every few minutes on my laptop. Spybot identifies the Smitfraud-C.CoreService and reports successful removal but it returns when I reboot. core.cache.dsk exists in \windows\system32\drivers but there is no core.sys or CORE folder in the registry.

I have run Spybot, Supersantiwpyware, AVG Antivirus, AVG Antispyware, SmitFraudFix, vundofix but have not been able to eliminate this crap. This is getting on my nerves.

Full Kaspersky Online Scan is available but too voluminous to include here. HJT log follows.

Download ComboFix from Here (http://www.techsupportforum.com/sectools/sUBs/ComboFix.exe) or Here (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe) to your Desktop

Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log and a HiJackthis log in your next reply

Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while its running. That may cause it to stall

Post the combofix log and a new HJT log.
