Friends's PC. Dell, XP Home.

Using Secure Shredder:

Add files from Temp folder, chop it away, works fine.

Add files from Explorer cookie files, chop it away, works fine.

Add files from Explorer cache files (Takes long time [6 minutes] to load files into SB. Chop it away, never completes shredding, HDD stops working (sound of HDD stops, HDD light not on) (# of shreds: 5x, default): have left for 2 hours plus.

Any ideas/solutions?

Hier ist ein Link mit einer "kleinen" Antwort zu dem Problem:

http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=2464

well, it might take a bit of time sometimes to answer... But some problems have to be tested before we can send an answer. As we know the problem will be solved by waiting a moment until all files are imported and shredded as Buster and Wolfgang said.
But 2+ hours are really too much.
Please inform us about your system. Which Win version, which Spybot-S&D version, which system in general. This may also be a hint to a solution. Also additional installed plugins or programs using the browser could be helpful.

***Friend's PC, so I can't be really specific***:
Dell (Model#? aprox 1 year old).

XP Home SP2
(Dell's 'proprietory' version. Why the [pick your fav explitive] does Dell need a proprietory version of ANY OS with their own dll files and drivers on a separate CD with a separate install? )
Oops, sorry, I digressed!:o

IE 6.x
Firefox 1.5
Free ZoneAlarm 6.0.667 (I think)
Grisoft AVG Free 7.1.375
SB S&D 1.4.0.3
Ad-Aware SE Personal 6.2.0.236
Irfanview 3.9.8.0
Corel Suite 12 (from Dell)
Any other software Dell typically supplies

Updates done before all scans on all security apps, scans done aprox every 5 days.

If I use IE's Tools> Internet Options>
Delete Cookies>
Delete Files (including Offline Content)>
Clear History>
SB Secure Shredder works fine. But after a couple of hours of surfing, problem returns. Even left overnight (unplugged cable modem), no luck.

Any and all help will be appreciated!:)
Person solving the mystery will be considered to be an

I have the same problem. Cookies and temp files shred fine but IE cache stops and cpu goes way up to 100 percent sometime. It used to work. I have XP home. IE has spoofstick browser helper and yahoo tool bar. The google toolbar also is on IE. When I use Firefox I have spoofstick and google toolbar. I even uninstalled Spybot and then installed 1.4 again. Hmmm?

Hello,

Are there big files in your temp folder?
Some users have reported that the Secure Shredder freeze if they shred big files.
They also have told us that if they close the tool with the Taskmanager and then open it again,
some files are shredded and that they could use it normally again after that.
Can you confirm this?

If you like, we would recommend an other tool for deleting sensitive data. The tool "Eraser".

P.S.: The "long answer time" is maybe refered to the time zone distance, as we are supporting from germany. ;)
