View Full Version : Deus Cleaner / ucleaner
My computer got infected by deus cleaner. It seems like I got most of it cleaned up, but I still get pop ups saying my computer is infected and to download their spyware removal. I also have the yellow bar on the top of my screen saying -
Warning: possible spyware or adware infection! Click here to scan your computer for spyware and adware....
I would appreciate any help.
Thanks in advance-

Welcome to Safer Networking, I wish to be sure you have viewed and understand this information.
"BEFORE you POST" (READ this Procedure before Requesting Assistance)
http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=288
All advice given is taken at your own risk.
Please make sure you have read this information so we are on the same page.
You seem to have missed instructions pinned to the the top of the forum and posted above. Please do not run and post the Kaspersky scan until I request it. You are still infected and I wish to look also for a hidden infection. Read and follow the directions, they will not work unless you do. If you have any of these tools, delete them and download then new from the links I provide.
1) http://siri.geekstogo.com/SmitfraudFix.php <<< download Smitfraudfix from here and follow ONLY these directions.
Search:
Double-click SmitfraudFix.exe
Select 1 and hit Enter to create a report of the infected files. The report can be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt
Note: process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool". It is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.
http://www.beyondlogic.org/consulting/processutil/processutil.htm
2) Thanks to andymanchesta and anyone else who helped with the fix.
Download SDFix and save it to your Desktop
http://downloads.andymanchesta.com/RemovalTools/SDFix.exe
Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%
(Drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix)
Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
Restart your computer
After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
Instead of Windows loading as normal, the Advanced Options Menu should appear;
Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press Enter.
Choose your usual account.
Open the extracted SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
When the PC restarts the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt
(Report.txt will also be copied to Clipboard ready for posting back on the forum).
Finally, post the C:\rapport.txt from Smitfraudfix, the contents of the Report.txt back on the forum with a new HijackThis log
Thanks

Thanks for returning your information, you did it fine. I was right, there was hidden Smitfraud infection, let's clean it up first.
http://siri.geekstogo.com/SmitfraudFix.php <<< tutorial if needed
Clean:
Reboot your computer in Safe Mode (before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually)
Double-click SmitfraudFix.exe
Select 2 and hit Enter to delete infect files.
You will be prompted: Do you want to clean the registry ? answer Y (yes) and hit Enter in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection.
The tool will now check if wininet.dll is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file (if found): Replace infected file ? answer Y (yes) and hit Enter to restore a clean file.
A reboot may be needed to finish the cleaning process. The report can be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt
Optional:
To restore Trusted and Restricted site zone, select 3 and hit Enter.
You will be prompted: Restore Trusted Zone ? answer Y (yes) and hit Enter to delete trusted zone.
Note, if you use SpywareBlaster and/or IE-SPYAD, it will be necessary to re-install the protection both afford. For SpywareBlaster, run the program and re-protect all items. For IE-SPYAD, run the batch file and reinstall the protection.
Post the C:\rapport.txt and a new HJT log. Let' me know about any malware issues at this point.
Thanks...Phil

Hey Phil -
I ran SmitfraudFix. I selected 2 and deleted files, then cleaned the registry. After finishing the registry, the SmitfraudFix main menu came up. I am not sure if it checked wininet.dll . The menu at this point had "3 DELETE Trusted and Restricted site zone." insted of RESTORE Trusted and Restricted site zone - so I didn't do anything.
I don't seem to have any more malware issues, but I'll wait on your advice.

Thanks Robert, for the feedback, please do not quote all of my instructions, waste of space.
I am not sure if it checked wininet.dll The fix automatically checks for infection and replaces the file if it is needed and available.
Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune
http://www.atribune.org/content/view/25/2/
Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.
Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

O9 - Extra button: PacificPoker - {94EDF7B4-4272-4af3-8F8B-4E2F68E225B7} - C:\PROGRA~1\PACIFI~1\pacificpoker.exe
Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"
Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.
Let's have Kaspersky look for anything hidden, you may delete Smitfraudfix and SDFix from the computer.
Run this online scan using Internet Explorer:
Kaspersky Online Scanner from http://www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner
Next Click on Launch Kaspersky Online Scanner
You will be prompted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.
* The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
* Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
* Now click on Scan Settings
* In the scan settings make that the following are selected:
* Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
* Standard
* Scan Options:
* Scan Archives
* Scan Mail Bases
* Click OK
* Now under select a target to scan:
* Select My Computer
* This will program will start and scan your system.
* The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
* Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
* Now click on the Save as Text button:
* Save the file to your desktop.
Then post it here along with your comments.
Thanks...Phil
There seems to me no more malware. The only problem I have is my computer beeps and the mouse freezes for a split second - This only happens once and awhile.
Thanks bro.

Good to hear and that's a clean scan report:bigthumb:
Hard to say what the beep is all about, mine does that also, usually if I hit a wrong key or something to cause it. Do you get any error messages? If so, post them word for word.
For the mouse issues, I suggest you navigate to the website where the mouse was purchased and look for an update for the driver.
