Long scan time and High CPU

Hello:

I just updated from Spybot 1.4 to Spybot 1.5

I've noticed three major changes which persisted even after I uninstalled both 1.4 and 1.5 via Control Panel, and then reinstalled only Spybot 1.5

1) Scan time increased from ~13 minutes, with Spybot 1.4 to nearly an hour for Spybot 1.5

2) CPU --with Spybot 1.5 --was ~97--99% throughout the scan

3) Loading time for the program was quite long~up to a minute.

No spyware, other than tracking cookies were found.

Any suggestions?

Hello,

We already have located some problems like the startup problem in Spybot S&D version 1.5 and fixed it.
Here is the download file for the fix - the new Spybot beta.

Please run Spybot - Search & Destroy and switch to "Advanced mode" via the menu bar item "Mode" and select "Settings" --> "File Sets" in the left bar. There, please right-click somewhere into the list and choose "select all available checks".

I installed that beta:

Now on Spybot 1.5.1.18

It does load in much less time; took a few seconds only.

Scan took ~half the time as before~24 minutes

However, the high CPU continued --between 97-99% -throughout the scan.

So some improvements, but excessive use of CPU remains.

When would you suppose the next build might come out?

Glad to hear. I have all three similar problems after going from 1.4 to 1.5 and my system is not that bad it is P4 2.4ghz with 1gb ram
:
- Takes long to load 2 minutes or so from only seconds earlier
- Scan takes much longer up to hour
- CPU load is very high, fan is running highest

I'm going to try the beta and see what happens :)
