Welcome to Safer Networking, I wish to be sure you have viewed and understand this information.
"BEFORE you POST" (READ this Procedure before Requesting Assistance)
http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=288
All advice given is taken at your own risk.
Please make sure you have read this information so we are on the same page.
Do not run and post the required Kaspersky scan now until I request it. Please follow the instructions in the posted order.
1) You are running two antivirus programs at the same time and this is not a good thing. They conflict with each other and you will be less safe than if you ran one good program and maintained it properly. Uninstall one, update the one you keep and run a complete system scan, post for me any item that can't be removed, the complete name and pathway.

"Microsoft recommends that you have only one anti-virus program installed on your computer."
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/12/03/AR2005120300087.html
http://www.smartcomputing.com/editorial/article.asp?article=articles/2003/s1407/38s07/38s07.asp
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\
C:\Program Files\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 SOS\
Choose the one you wish to run and uninstall the other.
2) We need first to disable TeaTimer that it doesn't interfere with fixes. You can re-enable it when you're clean again:
* Run Spybot-S&D in Advanced Mode.
* If it is not already set to do this Go to the Mode menu select "Advanced Mode"
* On the left hand side, Click on Tools
* Then click on the Resident Icon in the List
* Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts.
* Restart your computer.
Please leave it off until we finish.
3) http://siri.geekstogo.com/SmitfraudFix.php <<< download Smitfraudfix from here and follow ONLY these directions.
Search:
Double-click SmitfraudFix.exe
Select 1 and hit Enter to create a report of the infected files. The report can be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt
Note: process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool". It is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.
http://www.beyondlogic.org/consulting/processutil/processutil.htm
4) Thanks to LonnyBJones and anyone else who helped with this fix.
Please download FixWareout from one of these sites:
http://downloads.subratam.org/Fixwareout.exe
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/files/lonny/Fixwareout.exe
Save it to your Desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish.
The fix will begin; follow the prompts.
You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so.
Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.
Once the desktop loads post the text that will open (report.txt) and a new Hijackthis log in the forum please.
Recap: Post the C:\rapport.txt from Smitfraudfix, the report.txt from Fixwareout and a new HJT log.
Thanks
Thank you for the prompt response. I have uninstalled Kapersky, but after re-reading the "before you post" I realized that I had upgraded to windows SP 2 before my system was clean because NIS 2008 needed it to be installed.
Please let me know if I have to uninstall the service pack (if thats possible) before I continue with the steps listed in your previous post.
Thank you
pskelley

Some information for you, and yes, Microsoft asks for a malware free computer before SP2 is installed. Let's continue with the cleanup instructions and see how it goes.
Thanks...Phil

I believe your Java program needs one update.
We need first to disable TeaTimer that it doesn't interfere with fixes.
* Restart your computer.
Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune
http://www.atribune.org/content/view/25/2/
Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.
Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

Thanks for returning your information and the feedback. That looks like a clean HJT log to me:bigthumb: how is your computer running now? Any error messages from Windows? Let's have Kaspersky take a look for anything hidden. Please do not post a clean scan result.
Remove Smitfraudfix and Fixwareout before you scan. Do not save those programs, they do not update and need to be downloaded new each time used.
Run this online scan using Internet Explorer:
Kaspersky Online Scanner from http://www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner
Next Click on Launch Kaspersky Online Scanner
You will be prompted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.
* The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
* Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
* Now click on Scan Settings
* In the scan settings make that the following are selected:
* Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
* Standard
* Scan Options:
* Scan Archives
* Scan Mail Bases
* Click OK
* Now under select a target to scan:
* Select My Computer
* This will program will start and scan your system.
* The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
* Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
* Now click on the Save as Text button:
* Save the file to your desktop.
Then post it here. Include any comments you think will help.
Thanks...Phil
I could not get Kapersky to install for some reason but NIS 2008 did not find anything and my computer is running better than ever.
Thanks much for the help.
