It all started with Cmd Service--and then sprouted from there. I discontinued CMD and since then, SO many more problems are coming every day and my System restore no longer has any restore points BEFORE the infection date.

My computer can barely sustain operation--i'm flooded with ads (which is the easy part) and I can no longer use IE because it is POSSESSED! Blank tabs will just ENDLESSLY open and my explorer.exe fails within 10 minutes of startup and i have no browser or anything! AHHH!

Spybot SD isn't doing any good and I tried to do the Kaspersky Online Scanner but my computer won't let me press the ACCEPT button on the webpage. I'm surprised I got the HJT to work.

In the time I spent to type this, I have had 9 popups come up. Can someone please enlighten me with their computer brilliance?? it would be SO APPRECIATED!!

here's my log. i read the instructions--please let me know if i'm missing anything. thanks so much in advance!:

Hi

Yes :)

1. Download combofix from any of these links and save it to Desktop:
Link 1 (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe)
Link 2 (http://www.forospyware.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe)
Link 3 (http://subs.geekstogo.com/ComboFix.exe)

**Note: It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**

2. Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
3. When finished, it shall produce a log for you (C:\ComboFix.txt). Post that log in your next reply

Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall

Combofix should never take more that 20 minutes including the reboot if malware is detected.
If it does, open Task Manager then Processes tab (press ctrl, alt and del at the same time) and end any processes of findstr, find, sed or swreg, then combofix should continue.
If that happened we want to know, and also what process you had to end.

If you have problems with Combofix usage, see here (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix)

Post:

- a fresh HijackThis log
- combofix report

Hi

Yes, that is due to those pos*.tmp files.

You have a keylogger so it's highly recommenable to do the following:

If you do any banking or other financial transactions on the PC or if it should contain any other sensitive information, please get to a known clean computer and change all passwords where applicable, and it would be wise to contact those same financial institutions to apprise them of your situation.

You also have vundo file infector which means that you might have to re-install some startup programs later.

After that:

Open notepad and copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into it:

Driver::
nwlnkipxx

File::
C:\WINDOWS\mrofinu1000106.exe.tmp
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\nwlnkipxx.sys
C:\WINDOWS\Fonts\x.zip
C:\WINDOWS\Fonts\svchost .exe
C:\WINDOWS\Fonts\Setup.exe

Folder::
C:\WINDOWS\system32\edcA18
C:\Temp\Ryuan1

Save this as "CFScript"

Then drag the CFScript into ComboFix.exe as you see in the screenshot below.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v666/sUBs/CFScript.gif

This will start ComboFix again. After reboot, (in case it asks to reboot), post the contents of Combofix.txt in your next reply together with a new HijackThis log.

Hi

Next step is to install antivirus:

Looking over your log, it seems you don't have any evidence of an anti-virus software.

Anti-virus software are programs that detect, cleanse, and erase harmful virus files on a computer, Web server, or network. Unchecked, virus files can unintentionally be forwarded to others, including trading partners and thereby spreading infection. Because new viruses regularly emerge, anti-virus software should be updated frequently. Anti-virus software can scan the computer memory and disk drives for malicious code. They can alert the user if a virus is present, and will clean, delete (or quarantine) infected files or directories. Please download a free anti-virus software from one these excellent vendors NOW:

1) Antivir PersonalEdition Classic (http://www.free-av.com/)- Free anti-virus software for Windows. Detects and removes more than 50,000 viruses. Free support.
2) avast! 4 Home Edition (http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html) - Anti-virus program for Windows. The home edition is freeware for noncommercial users.
3) AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition (http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1) - Free edition of the AVG anti-virus program for Windows.

It is strongly recommended that you run only one antivirus program at a time. Having more than one antivirus program active in memory uses additional resources and can result in program conflicts and false virus alerts. If you choose to install more than one antivirus program on your computer, then only one of them should be active in memory at a time.

After that, please post back a fresh HijackThis log :)

i chose avast! and, after a full scan, a few infected files were deleted. my computer has gotten so much better. I haven't gotten a pop-up since I've turned my computer on today and the IE obstructions have disappeared. I don't know what you did but thank you so much for your help!! I don't know if my computer is fully healed already, but I like the results so far!

Hi

Let's find out if you are clean.

Please do an online scan with Kaspersky Online Scanner (http://www.kaspersky.com/downloads/kws/kavwebscan.html). You will be prompted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.
The program will launch and then start to download the latest definition files.
Once the scanner is installed and the definitions downloaded, click Next.
Now click on Scan Settings
In the scan settings make sure that the following are selected:

o Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:

+ Extended (If available otherwise Standard)

o Scan Options:

+ Scan Archives
+ Scan Mail Bases

Click OK
Now under select a target to scan select My Computer
The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run. Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
Now click on the Save as Text button
Save the file to your desktop.
Copy and paste that information in your next post.

Note: This scanner will work with Internet Explorer Only!

Note for Internet Explorer 7 users: If at any time you have trouble with the accept button of the license, click on the Zoom tool located at the right bottom of the IE window and set the zoom to 75 %. Once the license accepted, reset to 100%.

Hi

Empty these folders:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Spybot - Search & Destroy\Recovery\
C:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\Quarantine\
C:\QooBox\Quarantine

Empty Recycle Bin.

All other viruses are in system restore and inactive.

I give you later instructions how to empty it.

Other than that, any problems left?

My computer seems normal now, although there is a red X over C:/ in My Computer. I think most of the viruses are gone; THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

Can I go back to online banking and such or do you think the keylogger is still installed?

Hi

"Can I go back to online banking and such or do you think the keylogger is still installed?"

Yes, you can.

As for that red x:

First we'll need to backup registry:

Start -> Run -> regedit -> ok. Then File -> Export. Give it a name and press Save.

Save text below as fix.reg on Notepad (save it as all files (*.*)) on Desktop

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\DriveIcons]

It should look like this -> http://users.telenet.be/bluepatchy/miekiemoes/images/reg.gif

Doubleclick fix.reg, press Yes and ok.

(In case you are unsure how to create a reg file, take a look here (http://www.nellie2.co.uk/file.htm#How_to_Make_a_.Reg_File_) with screenshots.)

Reboot.

And tell me if it's gone now?
