View Full Version : AVG gives constant virus alert

I recently began using AVG's free virus scanner, and every few minutes, it gives a pair of virus alerts - one is always in "local service/local settings/Temporary Internet Files" - an html file, and the other is always in "windows/temp" - an executable. Each time I choose to 'heal' the file, then manually remove it from the quarantine section. Then, after a few minutes, the same thing happens. It always lists the virus as "Trojan horse Agent.NJG, and both the .exe and the .htm files are always exactly 296 KB.

Is this really a virus problem, and if so, why isn't AVG permanently stopping the problem? How can I fix this? Any additional information required for diagnosis can be given.

Thanks in advance.

After some additional research, it seems I have been infected by the malware SmitFraud. I tried using the removal tool SmitFraudFix v2.275, but it did not make a difference. I would really appreciate some help on this.

Hi generosity

Click here (http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/threat_analytics/HJTInstall.exe) to download HJTInstall.exe
Save HJTInstall.exe to your desktop.
Doubleclick on the HJTInstall.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
Click on Install.
It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
DO NOT use the AnalyseThis button, its findings are dangerous if misinterpreted.
DO NOT have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.
