i've done everything i know to remove it so i'll start from scratch here
i've run spybot and ad-aware in both normal and safemode (as well as alternate shell safemode) and managed to get rid of the core.cache.dsk file but it keeps coming back. i also tried uninstalling IE at one point but it didnt help

i checked other posts with people having the same problem but either i did something wrong or was infected a different way, i dont know but it didnt work for me

any help would be appreciated

1) Where did you get this?

2) You are running two antivirus programs at the same time and this is not a good thing. They conflict with each other and you will be less safe than if you ran one good program and maintained it properly. Uninstall one, update the one you keep and run a complete system scan, post for me any item that can't be removed, the complete name and pathway.

3) Read and follow the directions carefully, the tool will not work uless you do. If you should have this tool, delete it and download it new from the link I provide.

Thanks to sUBs and anyone else who helped with this fix.

It is important that it is saved directly to your Desktop

Download ComboFix from Here (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe) to your Desktop

Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log and a HiJackthis log in your next reply

Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while its running. That may cause it to stall

Post the combofix log and a new HJT log.

the first one, i dont know... my friends jump on my computer sometimes but i just deleted it

i uninstalled ESET, AVG just seems to be better at the moment to me

i know the rules say not to, but on another post for this same issue i seen you guys (forget who exactly) tell the person to download combofix and smitfraud2.277 or something to remove it.

i downloaded both (the combofix from the link you gave me) and it seems to have worked. i havent used the other one since this seems to be working, i havent had a popup yet.
it removed the core.cache.dsk file and some other file with a r(something?).dll that i didnt know about (ran in safemode)

thanks. ESET is gone and i'm going to keep my friends from my computer unless i'm watching them now.
