My laptop has been recently infected with some sort of malware. Before I continue let me state that I am not very knowledgeable about computer stuff, I'm afraid.

(I do not have any anti-virus software of any sorts.)

Here it goes:
To start with I did a scan (Housecall) and let it delete all infected files. Of these 2 would not be removed:

mljiiih.dll
wintxt32.dll

Both are in the WINDOWS/System32 folder.

After doing some searches on google it became clear that these are known infections. I did a quick research on how to remove them but have failed up to now. I wouldn't be here asking for help if I hadn't tried was has been proposed already. I had planned on downloading a spyware remover and do the whole safe mode thing as instructed but didn't manage. I downloaded HighjackThis but every time I attempt to get the setup going it is quickly shutdown. There seems to be no way round it. I can't install the programs which i need to remove the malware. I tried a few of them and in all cases the setup is abruptly shutdown.

I don't know what else to try. Please, any help would be appreciated.
