I've just upgraded from v1.4 to v1.5.2.20 and I'm very happy with it although I have a few minor queries!
1. There are 2 entries for Spybot in my Add or Remove Programs. One is for 1.4 and the other has no version number. Is this because I installed the new version over the old one?
2. When I open SpywareBlaster, the details of the Mozilla Firefox take longer to load, although they appear after a short while. Any idea why this should be so?
3. See this thread. (http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?p=160928#post160928) I would like to have Spybot in my context (right click) menu so that I can scan individual files - e.g. when I've just downloaded something. Can anyone tell me in very simple language how to set this up please?

I've been using Spybot since late 2003 and I'm pleased to say that this new version is better than ever. So far, I haven't had any problems with the either the new version or Firefox, mainly due to the posts I read here before installing v1.5.2.20, so thanks to many people here.

For question number one, yes, that is most likely why you have two entries in add/remove programs. Please see here:
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/paragraphs/spybotsd15_qna.html

For question number three,I think these might work, though I've never opened cmd below Windows XP:
For Windows 95/98/ME,to open a command prompt window,I believe you'd go to start->Run,then type command
For Windows 2000 or XP,go to Start->Run,then type cmd
For Vista, open the Start menu, then type cmd in the search box, then rightclick cmd,and select Run As Administrator.

Once the Command Prompt window is open, type
cd "C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy"
Then type regsvr32 SDFiles.dll
Hopefully,that should do it.

For question number two,it might take a while because of the amount of entries in the hostperm.1 file:

Please see from that thread:

Thanks for your replies Zenobia. As far as question 1 is concerned, it's not a problem, I was just curious, but thanks for giving me the explanation!
As far as SpywareBlaster is concerned, it's only a few second delay, so I'll leave it and hope they get the new version out soon. An interesting thing I've noticed is that if I move the hostperm.1 file out of Firefox, SpywareBlaster loads normally. I was tempted to delete it and let FF create a new one, but that would mean recreating my black/white lists and I don't want to do that.
I can't get the cmd thing to work right and there is already a SDFiles.dll in the Spybot folder anyway, so I'll leave it for now.
The main thing is that the program works well which is the most important thing.

Actually, in the end, I decided to uninstall Spybot (both entries) from Add or Remove Programs and reinstall v1.5.2.20 as I still had the set up file. It didn't take long and it just looks neater! I suppose it was a bit silly because it didn't make any difference to the program; at least I made a restore point first in case anything went wrong!
