1.4 to 1.5

I'm kind of new at this stuff. I have S&D 1.4. Must I uninstall 1.4 to get 1.5? When I tried to install 1.5 it said the program folder already existed and asked if the new version should be added to that folder. ???

I know my question is probably stupid but like I said I'm new at this.
