Hi I’m trying to get help to fix my comp. I’m trying to do it the right way. If I’m doing something wrong please forgive me and advice as how to do it, the right way, thanks. The problem that I have it’s that every time that I try to open yahoo_._com my comp freezes and I have to turn it off manually. I found some posts with similar problems, but they say not to try to fix other comps with the fixes that they provide, since every comp has different configurations and profiles.
Here is the log of the Kaspersky Online after I scanned my comp.
Thanks.

Kaspersky Online ScannerWelcome to the Kaspersky Online Scanner! Use it to
scan your PC for viruses and other malware for free
Warning: if you have installed Kaspersky Online Scanner Pro, please
manually uninstall it using "Add/Remove Programs" before installing this
version! Otherwise this version will not function correctly.

Benefits:

Kaspersky Anti-Virus exceptional detection rates and thorough scanning
Hourly AV database updates available each time the Online Scanner is
launched
Heuristic analysis to detect unknown viruses
Simple installation (just click on a link)

Requirements and limitations:

When using this service for the first time, you have to run with
Administrator privileges in order to install the product. Also, you will
need to download and install files about 400 KB in size followed by 9 MB
of virus definitions.
However, if you use the Online Scanner again, you will only need to
download the files that have been updated since your last scan.
The Online Scanner service offered by Kaspersky Lab uses Microsoft ActiveX
technology. Microsoft ActiveX Technology and the Kaspersky Online Scanner
work only with MS Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher.
We cannot guarantee that the Online Scanner will function correctly if you
are using any other browser or any Internet Explorer extensions (such as
AvantBrowser). If you use a different browser, you can use the Kaspersky
File Scanner to scan individual files.
The free Kaspersky Online Scanner does not scan boot sectors and MBRs, so
it cannot detect malicious code located in these areas.
Please note: The free Kaspersky Online Scanner does not protect against
malicious code, and cannot prevent future infections. It only detects
malware that has already penetrated your computer. We strongly recommend
that you install a full antivirus solution to protect your system.

Privacy statement:

The Kaspersky Online Scanner will collect information about the malicious
programs found on your computer during the scanning process. The
information will be sent to the Kaspersky Virus Lab for statistical
purposes. No personal information about you or specific information about
your system will be collected or transmitted to Kaspersky Lab.

Protect your PC from future infection.

We will need to disable TeaTimer
1) Run Spybot-S&D
2) Go to the Mode menu, and make sure "Advanced Mode" is selected
3) On the left hand side, choose Tools -> Resident
4) Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts
5) Restart your computer.

Leave it disabled until we are done,

------------------------------------

Download and run - ATF Cleaner instructions here. (http://forums.security-central.us/showthread.php?t=1925)

----------------------------------

Close all programs leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following, making sure you get them all and not any others by mistake:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file)

Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

----------------------------------

Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (http://www.besttechie.net/tools/mbam-setup.exe) to your desktop.

* Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
* Be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform FULL SCAN, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location. The log can also be opened by going to Start > All Programs > Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware > Logs > log-date.txt

Ok, I opened Spybot-S&D and uncheck the "Resident TeaTimer" box then I restarted my comp when it was on I opened Spybot-S&D again just to check if the "Resident TeaTimer" box was unchecked and it was not, so I unchecked it again and also the "SD Helper" box and restarted.

So I opened Spybot-S&D again to re-check if the "Resident TeaTimer" and the "SD Helper" boxes were unchecked and they were. So I ran ATF Cleaner selected the "select all" box and clicked on the "empty selected" box.

Open and ran HijackThis after it finished I selected the box by "O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file)"
and hit the "Fix Checked" and closed it.

Open, updated I ran Malwarebytes it did not find any infected files here is the log:

Download ComboFix from Here (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe) or Here (http://subs.geekstogo.com/ComboFix.exe) to your Desktop.

In the event you already have Combofix, this is a new version that I need you to download.
It must be saved directly to your desktop.

1. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before performing a scan.
Click on this link (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic114351.html) to see a list of programs that should be disabled. The list is not all inclusive. If yours is not listed and you don't know how to disable it, please ask.
Remember to re enable the protection again afterwards before connecting to the net

2. Close any open browsers and make sure you are disconnected from the net. Unplug the cable if need be before running combofix.

IF you have not already done so Combofix will disconnect your machine from the Internet when it starts.
If there is no internet connection when Combofix has completely finished then restart your computer to restore back the connections.

3. Now double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
When finished, it will produce a report for you.
Please post the "C:\ComboFix.txt" along with a new HijackThis log for further review

Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall or freeze.

If yours is not listed and you don't know how to disable it, please ask.

Can you tell me how to turn off "script blocking ".
Please.

Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before performing a scan.

For the one that you mention after the anti-virus, I know how to turn off the other ones.
Thanks.

And just a question, would it be better to do it on safe mode?

Lets run an F-Secure online scan.
Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the Start scanning button. A window will pop up.
Allow the Active X control to be installed on your computer, then click the Accept button
Click Full System Scan and allow the components to download and the scan to complete.
If malware is found, check Submit samples to F-Secure then select Automatic cleaning
When cleaning has finished, click Show report (this will open an Internet Explorer window containing the report)
Highlight and Copy (CTRL + C) the complete report, and Paste (CTRL + V) in a new reply to this post
If Automatic cleaning with Submit samples hangs, click Cancel, then New Scan
When the cleaning option is presented, Uncheck Submit samples to F-Secure
Click Automatic cleaning
When cleaning has finished, click Show report (this will open an Internet Explorer window containing the report)
Highlight and Copy (CTRL + C) the complete report, and Paste (CTRL + V) in a new reply to this post

Note: This scan will only work with Internet Explorer.
You must be logged on a administrator rights to run this scan.
The scan may take a few hours.

Hi, I have bad news; I tried to run the F-Secure online scan 5 times and after the download process, an error message appeared every time that says "An error occurred! Please close the scanner and your browser, then try again. (Id: 24)" here is an image of it:

http://s218.photobucket.com/albums/cc145/joselepiu/th_fsecureerror.jpg .

Any idea on what to do next?

Well looks Good.

Download the OTMoveIt (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/oldtimer/OTMoveIt2.exe).

Save it to your desktop.
Please double-click OTMoveIt.exe to run it.

Press cleanup & it will search for and delete/uninstall all the tools we have used
to fix your problems and all their backup folders and then delete itself when you next reboot.

-----------------------------------------

Reboot and rescan with HiJackThis and post a new log here.
Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.

Download ComboFix from Here (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe) or Here (http://subs.geekstogo.com/ComboFix.exe) to your Desktop.

Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
When finished, it will produce a report for you.
Please post the "C:\ComboFix.txt" along with a new HijackThis log for further review

Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall or freeze.

Ok, I already did that. But I'll do it again. I'll download it and let it run overnight.
And let's see what happens.
Thanks.

Sorry for the delay
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file) is part of Windows Live Call HoverToCall.

We will need to disable TeaTimer of let teatimer allow the change
1) Run Spybot-S&D
2) Go to the Mode menu, and make sure "Advanced Mode" is selected
3) On the left hand side, choose Tools -> Resident
4) Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts
5) Restart your computer.

After doing this fix O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file)

If it doesn't remove it we may need to remove spybot then delete it. But it is not spyware just a reg key that you do not need.

It's gone, but the last time it was gone too. And after some days (2 or 3) it reappeared again.
What should I do now.
Thanks.

Let me know if you have anymore trouble.

Download the HostsXpert 3.8 (http://www.funkytoad.com/download/HostsXpert.zip)- Hosts File Manager.

* Unzip HostsXpert 3.8 - Hosts File Manager to a convenient folder such as C:\HostsXpert
* Click HostsXpert.exe to Run HostsXpert 3.8 - Hosts File Manager from its new home
* Click "Make Hosts Writable?" in the upper right corner (If available).
* Click Restore Microsoft's Hosts file and then click OK.
* Click the X to exit the program.
* Note: If you were using a custom Hosts file you will need to replace any of those entries yourself.

Let me know if that helps.

I do not know if this helps, but I just discover that if I go to www.yahoo.com/games and from there to mail, the compu does not get stock. Also that if right click on the task bar on the stock page icon repeatedly about 20 times or more it start to load the pages where it freezes.

Flush any DNS caches you have control over.
Two examples are routers that act as proxy nameservers,

The way to fix the router cache is to power cycle the router.
The way to fix XP

Click start > all programs >accessories >command prompt and type in

ipconfig /flushdns <<<there is a space between the g and /

To reset your restore points, please note that you will need to log into your computer with an account
which has full administrator access. You will know if the account has administrator access because
you will be able to see the System Restore tab. If the tab is missing, you are logged in under a limited account.

1. Turn off System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

2. Reboot.

3. Turn ON System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
UN-Check *Turn off System Restore*.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

I have my hard drive with 2 partitions I use C: for all my programs and drive D: for all my files. I'll reset the restore points tonight. What should I do after that?
Thanks.

Delete SmitFraudFix that should get rid of all the reported infections.

Is that program infected? I do not see a uninstall icon for it on the Add or Remove Programs list. How should I do it?
Thanks.

No but if you ever need it again it will be out of date.
Delete these two folders in bold.
D:\roberto's\tools\set-up files\installed\SmitFraudFix
D:\roberto's\tools\set-up files\Stand Alone Working Programs\SmitFraudFix

If you cleaned out your restore points that should do it.

I did clean the restore points, but nothing happened, still the same. It still freezes on the same web pages. I really don't know what to do next. I am thinking to do a full reformat of the hard drive. If you have any more ideas let me know.

Thanks.

Sorry I'm really at a lose as to why.

You may wish to do a repair install.

If I have to do a full reformat, what programs do I need to install as a minimum to be protected against virus, mal-ware, trojans, spy-ware, etc?

A list of programs that I have used and trust are listed here. (http://www.nutnworks.com/forums/showthread.php?t=98)
