S&D doesn't seem to want to recognize me as the administrator ; even though I am shown as that in the start menu. Keeps telling me I need admin authority to do a complete scan. What should I do ??

Although you are running as an Administrator, Vista requires the Elevation of Administrator privileges to do certain functions.

Did you try to right-click the "Spybot – Search & Destroy" entry in your start menu and select "Run as administrator" as suggested?

Hello,stanvett. :)
What happens after you rightclick Spybot and select Run As Administrator?Do you get a prompt from User Account Control that a program needs your permission to continue?

Are the things being found after a Spybot scan tracks(they'd be shown in green),or are they spyware(these would be shown in red.)
Could you do this?
Open SpyBot.
Check for problems.
When the scan completes, right click on the results list, select "Copy results to clipboard".
Paste (Ctrl+V) those results here.

This isn't the info I wished to see.I wanted to see what it was Spybot might be finding before you get the prompt about
running Spybot as admin to fix problems for all users. Is that the message you are getting? And do you only get it when Spybot is attempting to fix problems found, after a scan?

What happens after you rightclick Spybot and select Run As Administrator?Do you get a prompt from User Account Control that a program needs your permission to continue?

Sorry about sending the wrong info.

I get the response only when I try to immunize from the immunize page -says I need admin auth.

After right clicking spy bot and selecting "Run as Administrator" I ALWAYS get the prompt from User Account Control that the computer needs my permission to continue.

Could I possibly have to reset the "Run as Administrator" every time I run the program??

Thanks for being so patient with me; Computers are not my forte

No problem. And no need to post a logfile,I thought you were getting that message after running a scan with Spybot. :)

Yes,it is not a one-time only thing, you should Rightclick Spybot and select Run As Administrator each time you run Spybot. If you have the Spybot icon on your desktop, you can also rightclick it from there and select Run As Administrator,if you prefer.hth.
