Hi,
I have been using Version 1.4 for some time now with no problems. A couple of days ago I installed some new updates, one of which was the Version 1.52 upgrade, I ran the install but now when I try to run the application it will not start and I get the following error message,
Exception EAccessViolation in module SPYBOTSD.EXE at 002E 6098. Access violation at address 006E 609B in module 'SPYBOTSD.EXE'. Read of address FFFFFFFF.
I tried to open version 1.4 again and got the same message. I then uninstalled both versions of the software and re-installed 1.52, which had no effect,
If anyone can help me with this problem I would be most grateful

Can be confirmed. Same error message. I returned to V. 1.4. that runs fine.

And then try again to download the newest update from the spybot site and install it? Do you have any programs that monitor changes to your system that could be blocking spybot from installing correctly?

as far as I am concerned:
Upgrade from V. 1.4. to V. 1.5.2 via the integrated update function, i.e. download of the program files via sbsd152upd.exe (308 KB, 31-st January).
I started the program, got the error message “EAccess violation…) and noticed that the previous version 1.4 was still there. I removed V. 1.4 (control panel, software, Add/Remove programs/Regcleaner/Ccleaner/deletion of remnants in Windows Explorer).
New start of V. 1.5.2 with the same error message. Deletion of V. 1.5.2 in the same way as above and reinstall without success. I tried to run the program without firewall and antivirus. No effect. The program runs only in safe mode, with the exception of teatimer that appears in the right corner, and updates can be done by right click on it.
Windows 98 SE, Outpost firewall, Antivirus Avast Home 4.7, RAM 512 MB.
There are several posts describing the same problem (also in the German forum). It seems that the problem especially concerns Windows 98.

Yes thats exactly the same as the problem I'm experiencing, i.e. teatimer still appears in the system tray etc.
I'd also like to add that I am running 98SE,
I wonder if any 98 users have installed successfully, however I will try again and will look at the German posts that have been recommended,

a issue with 98....it does work fine in safe mode? It loads correctly and teatimer functions fine? interesting...I'm sorry but i have run out of ideas. The only thing i can offer is to go to a place that offers older downloads and go back to version 4 until the prob can be dealt with a appropriate member. I would wait for a team member.
