The Merciless Pepper of Quetzalacatenango.....
you would need a mouth transplant after that
It's a funny coincidence you posted dreaming, I was just having a convo about dreams before I came on here with a couple people.
Daydreaming....
"Dream a little dream of me"
LOL....ya'll silly
wishful thinking
I looked up that song on wikipedia. It said there is about 60 versions of it, and somehow this is the first time I heard a version of it, I think.
Then I looked up wishful thinking, and I stumbled upon.....
Pygmalion Effect
Look at that, learned of two unknown things today. I possibly might need to get out more. (or read wikipedia more, anyways.)
Down in the south where I live, boy friend gets close and has the funny look in his eyes, I just say
Wishful Thinking!
LOL

yeah, wikipedia sometimes is quite fun to read. As computer scientist always work with the worst case possible, I say:
Murphy's Law :D:

lol!
Yes, it is. I get on wikipedia and sometimes end up clicking link after link. I don't end up spending as much time on it as when I look at tv tropes, though.
I also sometimes listen to wikipedia being updated before I go to sleep:

The Law of Sod...
Murphy's Law, Law of Sod == Just My Luck
When it rains it pours.....
When I was a kid I didn't know that phrase had to do with luck, I thought people were really talking about rain. I was a bit baffled by it, though not as much as the first time I heard someone say "it's raining cats and dogs."
When it rains it pours.....
never saw it coming

the one that always threw me was 'raining cats and dogs'
Then I heard an old timer explain it, thought to myself, I should had known that!
Blindsided...
I still don't understand the 'raining cats and dogs' thing. Maybe they had veeeery different weather before our time, lol.

Down where I live, it's raining extremely heavily, that even the cats and dogs are taking cover and it's so bad you tend to get very wet.
Caught off guard.....
Oh, I never had heard that before. Well, look at that.
I googled it last night, and for the first time I think this has ever happened the entire internet seemed to just sort of shrug it's shoulders and say "nope, not too sure on the raining cats and dogs thing." Usually if the internet doesn't know about a thing, it just sort of collectively seems to make something up.
And here I half vaguely thought it would be some sage old saying about the rain coming down as fast as dogs running after cats would be or something like that, lol!
you know anything is possible. Different regions have sayings for just about anything probably not related to what others know.
just go with the flow.
surprise!
Yup, that's true. :)
I see that people from England say it's "raining stair rods" when it's raining heavy. I wonder why everything is centred on rain? I've never heard anything like "It's snowing buffalos and antelopes out." :D:
Shock....
I've never heard anything like "It's snowing buffalos and antelopes out
That would make me think it's time for some type of under-ground cover!

That quote seems really familiar, but I can't think of the movie it's from. :)

The movie was

Oh, I bet that's why it seemed familiar.

I looked him up, I see he's retired. I think that's the only basketball player I know besides Michael Jordan.

Al Capone was portrayed in the Untouchables, wasn't he? And Robert Stack played Elliott Ness. I used to love Robert Stacks voice. I watched Unsolved Mysteries every chance I got when I was a kid. :)
basketball
I never kept up with basketball....and seems our hockey team is kinda cooling off this year.
BASEketball....
I've never really cared for hockey too much. Not sure how that goes being Canadian and all. I think maybe Trudeau denounces me by proclamation, and then the rest of the Canadians sing a slightly sarcastic passive-aggressive verse about me during the national anthem, after which we all profusely apologize and go to Tim Hortons afterwards, though I'm not 100% sure on that.
yeah, let's go for drinks!
Sounds good.
I usually have tea, but let's go get a Zombie. I wonder if they still make those. I used to drink them years ago.
Same league as Zombie: :fear:
is a Zombie an alcohol drink?
Yes and I wonder why the Long Island Ice Tea is not displayed in my previous post.

Yup, a Zombie is an alcoholic drink. There's a recipe here:

That's a lovely idea for a restaurant, and the first I've heard of it.
Fire....
I see "Cooking fire" is a world of warcraft thing, which I don't play, so why that thought plonked into my head, I'll never know.
Some might think I'm crazy but, I always thought it would be so cool to cook using an old fireplace the way pioneers did, kettles and cast iron pots.
Can you imagine a swing arm, over the fire, and a pot hanging from that full of beans
....and Sprout.
I always thought that would be delicious, too. We also used to have a clip that would play on tv up here that showed two people making bannock over an open campfire, and I always thought it looked really delicious.
sure looks delicious but what about the taste?
they also have good biscuits

Let me tell ya about my wife!
hehe.
I liked his Epitaph: There goes the neighborhood
I thought his eyes kinda bugged out
They did, didn't they? Maybe he was just surprised a lot.
I think he did it on purpose
Probably, 'cause it made people want to laugh even before he told a joke.
Motive...
Ha! It's really funny you posted that, we have some investigating going on a couple doors down. We stopped to let two police cars go by on our way home, and to our surprise by the time we got home they were parked on our road a couple doors down from us, out on foot with flashlights peering into yards looking for something. This is a quiet neighborhood so that's really unusual. That two second walk from the driveway to inside felt like a rather nervous 10 minutes with visions of some sort of 2018 version of Jack the Ripper dancing through my head. I think it being so late at night made it worse.
Search....
Next door neighbor had company move in for a short time.
One day Police knocked on our door and asked if I knew one of the people over there (showed a photograph) and what time might they be home.
It was the visitor and had only really seen him from a distance. I asked if I should be concerned, and they said NO
(does that reply seem standard and unconcerned)
Days later I see him being handcuffed in the front yard, I ask about his offense and they said rape 2 counts from a different state.
I WAS SO MAD, back to my question and their original answer should had been, Keep your doors and windows locked!
Rescue
I don't blame you for being mad, that is horrible. They definitely should have given you a heads up.

anybody ever have one of these
nosy neighbor
Yes, when I was growing up our next door neighbor used to brazenly sit in her window and watch us. She didn't even try to hide behind a curtain, just sat there watching in full view, bold as brass. I don't know why my parents never pulled the curtains. The most baffling was one night I couldn't sleep and my mom couldn't so she made blueberry muffins at 2 in the morning. The next door neighbour mentioned she saw we made blueberry muffins a few days later. That raised a couple questions for me.
a. The neighbor always looked out of an upper story window at us, and we were downstairs in the kitchen. How the heck could she tell they were blueberry muffins?
b. It was 2 a.m. How in heavens name did she know to get up and look into our window at 2 a.m.?????
c. Why would anybody watch someone make muffins? Wouldn't cable be much more exciting?
Stephanie Crawford...
Dang, maybe she could smell the muffins? or, she could see what was going in the mix and saw the blueberries?
goodness, I would had dropped my pants and gave her a good mooning! I know my older brother would have.
Should had asked her why she was up or why she always watching your family. You guys had more then the typical nosy neighbor.
Invasive
lol! It never occurred to me to moon her, I should have, though.
....Species
Sometimes you need to do some weeding
My husband thought I ought to save the weeds I was picking out beside the driveway and throwing in the composter awhile back, because he said they looked just like the stuff in the wild salad greens I bought from the grocery store. Guess he didn't think it looked too appetizing.
Gardening...
Got to say that some of the salad mixes used to day do look like it came off the forest floor.
refinement
lol, some of them do, don't they? Makes me feel like I'm eating somebodies lawn clippings, sometimes.

Nascar is kind of cool, but beer is :yuck:, so guess I'll never make the grade on being a good redneck lady.

Forget the beer, grab the wine!

I agree wholeheartedly. :D:
Tater Salad....
oh goodness this brings back memories
he named his son Tator Tots
I've never had that before, but I'm presuming if I did there might be some heartburn involved.
Saw a guy on TV eat one on a dare.....he knew to chew and swallow 'asap'
Tears rolled down his face, I think he even gasped once or twice. If memory is good he started eating bread and drinking milk then swore to never do that again.
Wouldn't be surprised if taste buds had been removed.
hehe, I sometimes get heartburn from toast, so guess me eating a habanero pepper is out.

lol, guess that's a pretty weird word association. I hate ironing, so I always throw any wrinkled clothes in the dryer for a few minutes.
dry-cleaners
ironing isn't to bad if it only a couple pieces.
blouse...
I suppose ironing wouldn't be too bad, but the stuff I've piled on the ironing board over the years kind of is a deterrent to starting.
blouse...

I remember that from my mom. she had a whole room full of stuff...
skirt
Pillow Sham...
hehe, guess your Mom didn't iron either.
My grandma never ironed either, and I noticed her ironing board has stuff piled on it, too. I know my Mom never irons, but she doesn't pile stuff on her ironing board, mainly because her cat uses the ironing board as a jungle gym, so she keeps it clear for her.
The stuff on my ironing board somehow manages to be too good to throw out, but not really good enough to keep. Weirdly enough, I don't recall ever really stacking anything on there, either. It's like a ....twilight zone ironing board or something.
I did notice my hubby decided to tie a grocery bag to it, and has been emptying the dryer lint trap there. I.....can't possibly fathom why one would save dryer lint, unless he's saving it up to throw out all at once. Or planning to knit some kind of dryer lint sweater. I decided I'd refrain from asking.
I'm surprised they don't have irons that will iron by themselves by now, like a roomba. :D:
starch
Say, save that lint. Its good for starting fires. You ever use a fire place?
My grandmother mended clothes for a living, a dairy farm where they wore overalls.
I used to watch her sew, then iron then seams and finish.
Mother mostly ironed when making little dresses or something for us kids. Said it was cheaper to make then to buy.
tinted...
Oh, fantastic. I don't have a fireplace, but I'll give the bag of lint to my grandma, she has one. :)
I remember my relatives making clothes, too. They'd get patterns and make clothes. You don't see that as much anymore, at least not in my family. Maybe it's not as cheap to make clothes now as it once was.
fabrics
I think teaching young ladies the art of cooking, sewing, has become a lost art.
In the past there were classes that taught this in High School but I don't think it's offered any more.
Linens....
Oh, we had that. It was Home Ec. I'm not sure what the ec stood for, economics, maybe. For half a year, the girls would take industrial arts, which was basically wood working, and the boys would take Home Ec. Then after Christmas break we would all switch. Home Ec and Industrial Arts would run for 3 class periods, so basically all afternoon. Industrial Arts was really cool, but I haaaaaaated home ec. It seemed like it took forever. I did terrible with sewing, and cooking.
Now, my husband went to a different school, and instead of switching mid-year, they could choose either industrial arts or home ec. And he chose Home Ec. because that's where all the girls were. (Smart man!)
Now he does most of the cooking and clothes mending needed, so that worked out well for later life. I'd love to say it worked out more fair, but I've done just about zero woodworking so far.
garments
Going back that far and trying to remember, if it wasn't like yesterday I'm not that good but, I think
Home Ec was all year, part one was cooking, then second semester was sewing. Wood working was a guy thing, it lasted all year and have no idea how that was broke up.
Here, I do all the cooking. I love trying new recipes and baking home made sweets but, I think what I learned was actually more from my mother and grand mother then Home Ec.
