I bet that's why you like cooking, you got to learn from your Mom and Grandma, it was probably one on one instead of someone trying to teach a group, like they do in home ec and it was probably fun to do. :)
It's funny, way back to my great-grandparents, I remember my great-grampa doing most of the cooking when he was home. Most of us girls didn't take much of an interest in it. My Mom never did, until one day she suddenly started cooking in a restaurant. Now she's a great cook. She always laughs and says cooking is great, as long as someone pays her to do it.
designer
No one took your mother aside to work with her to show her how to cook the foods she liked best?
No offense to my Mom, cooking with my grandmother was more fun.
And it was one on one. Just seeing how these dishes were made and what they did to get that specific flavor.......the aroma's that went through the house is just the biggest memories.
The one thing to this day I still cannot re-produce is my grandmothers cabbage and corn bread. (I know, many would turn their noses up to that buts its a southern food) as a child I loved it.
Chloé...
Probably not, or if they did she probably wasn't too interested. But she used to have some things she liked to make, like hodge podge, so she probably learned that from my grandma. Both make it every so often, and it is delicious.
I've never had cabbage and cornbread, but it doesn't sound so bad. I'd probably rather have that than corned beef and cabbage. :)
Grandma's are sometimes a bit more fun when they teach you things, they always seem to have so much patience. :)
Lenoir
corned beef and cabbage was always to salty for my taste, bet you would like deviled eggs
business partner...
Yes, I love deviled eggs. Though I bought some from a store once, and the yolk part was turned downwards, which I thought was odd, but thought no more of it. I got two packs, one was excellent, then when we opened the other one....green. The yolk parts were bright green, and it most definitely wasn't Saint Patrick's Day.
alliance
yolk turned green means it was cooked to long.
Avengers....
Oh, I didn't know that. I thought perhaps they were a real fan of Dr. Suess, but forgot the ham. :D:
superhero
If they get to that color it really wont hurt anything. One thing that makes food so good is presentation.
Robin. I used to think he was so adorable. :)
https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/muppet/images/2/2d/Robinfloor.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20160224164934
I wish I'd have known that they were just cooked too long. I could have ate one in front of my hubby to mess with him, lol!
Miss Piggy
I've seen a couple of shows on TV where these guys eat just about anything......no way they should be eating that stuff!
Spamela Hamderson....
Like the gross stuff they sometimes used to eat on Fear Factor? I could never watch that, too gross.
Not enough money to make me eat bugs, or some of that stuff
Gonzo
Same here!
Camilla the Chicken...
One of my favourites:
Beaker...
Apparently before he became the Cookie Monster, his name was Sid.
I didn't know that, I never watched it as a kid
Jim Henson
Ah. Don't feel bad, I just discovered I'd never watched Pete's Dragon when I was a kid, which apparently most kids watched. (I'd never heard of it before.)
Puppeteer...
(Perhaps it should be Muppeteer.) :D:
marionette
peppa pig is a good one to watch
That's another one I've never watched, but it looks adorable. :)
Puppet on A String...
John Lennon Songwriting Contest...
The winner sure isn't Yoko Ono
oh my gosh....she's brutal
arbitration
She sure is. There's no way I'd appear on her show, I'd be scared of her!
arbiters...
Thst's a weird word. It sounds like they're arborists who bite you or you're biting arborists or something.
"Look, I'll drop the lawsuit, just please stop biting that poor tree surgeon!! I can't stand the sight of blood!" :alien:
Sometimes, they are more like a referee
I used to watch WWE, but now I don't know who the heck anybody is anymore.
One of my faves was (besides the Undertaker, he's the main reason I watched):
Trish Stratus
I looked her up online and see she's coming out of retirement for a match, so that's pretty cool.
article says she's only Height: 5′ 4″
That means she's a little spit-fire
lol, yup. Her matches with Victoria were usually pretty awesome, too. :)
Feisty...
I know this will go completely off topic but when I saw wolverine it made me think of
Hugh Jackman :bigthumb:
In my experience, thinking of Hugh Jackman is always a good thing, and I like to think of him as often as possible.:laugh:
Dark Phoenix...
Oh, the r n ran together to look like an m. Now it looks like I was calling my Mom a virus or something. lol!
Uncle...
To my brother's children I am their favorite Aunt
My cousins refer to my youngest Aunt as the "cool Aunt." Since their only other aunt is my Mom, I briefly considered going out and getting my Mom a leather jacket and maybe a lip piercing to compete, but I never got around to it yet.
My niece sat between my sister and myself once and my foolish sister asked her who was her favorite Aunt?
No hesitation at all, she blurted out aunt Julie. After my sister got herself back up off the floor we all had a good laugh.
hehe, it was good of your sister to laugh about it. In some families that would have been world war III!
Nephew...
We've laughed about it many times since
Grandma!
Blueberry....
with vanilla ice cream. And a tea. Okay, that's it....time for an after midnight snack.
Actually, it's so late instead of a snack, I could just have breakfast.
Oh, yum! McDonald's used to have a fruit & berry parfait that was lovely. I wonder if they still make them.
They had a goji berry greek yogurt parfait thingie from the grocery store that I got the other day. I grabbed it because I've always wanted to try goji berries, plus it had a pretty good discount. But it wasn't berries on the yogurt, they were mushed up like some sort of jam.
It was rather....how should I put it...undelicious.
Sounds like some type of berry you'd see bears and deer eating.....
undelicious ==> distasteful
Unpleasant...
hehe, the bears and deer would probably spit out the goji berries, and go to the nearest drive-thru and order a Whopper.
My husband was working a couple towns away quite a few years ago, and he swears he saw a fox go through the Tim Horton's drive-thru, and they gave the fox a tim-bit. I'm not entirely sure if I believe him or not, though. :D:
They've shown on TV animals walking through store doors, so I'd say its possible.
Unpleasant = > yucky
Yes, I used to love the video where the seagull marches in the store and gets a bag of chips.
Icky....
I always think spyware is the digital equivalent of the classic door to door salesman with his foot in the door so you can't close it. Then again, with the amount of telemarketing calls there are lately, it almost feels like most phone calls are some sort of phone spam, so I guess you can't win.
Keylogger...
I very much dislike someone at the door soliciting, but I will donate to the local schools.
you'll never believe the thought the first time I heard of a computer worm
Finagle's law
and it's been my personal experience that indeed, if something can go wrong.......it will.
Same here. We need a better law.
Yhprum's law....
There. Can't beat that one.
There. Can't beat that one
Oh watch this
Juliet's Law
hehe, well done.
Your law is so good, they made it into a romance novel. :D:

Silhouette...
I wonder if they have murphy-like laws for forums? This would be a good one , it happens to me frequently---the moment you're about to hit reply, either the phone will ring, the microwave will beep, or the doorbell will ring. By the time you return, you'll have completely forgotten what you were going to post.
I can relate to all of the above. I've gone as far as sit down to eat, no fork or spoon.......
Once, finishing up washing my hair, blow drying my hair, sprayed my hair with deodorant thinking it was the can of hair spray.......(both cans were the same color)
I laughed at that myself.
Silhouette ==> imagery
Well, at least your hair would not get sweaty, lmao!
One of my relatives told me they were getting ready to go out one night, got all dolled up, and then grabbed a can of tub & tile cleaner because they thought it was hair spray, and sprayed it all over their hair. I laughed at that so hard I cried.
Vivid....
I'm glad tubes of toothpaste are labeled well.....
Vivid ==> imagination
hehe!
Daydream....
Hypnopompic hallucinations...
Hypnopompic <== I'm a skeptic
Oh, I had one once. Woke up to what felt like somebody running their fingers through my hair, which was no big deal until I realized I'd briefly woken up when my husband had gone to work. Quickly looked over thinking maybe he had returned home and gone back to bed or something but there was nobody there. Immediately bolted for the living room. I probably broke the sound barrier, I was moving so fast. I was pretty confused until I found out that hallucinations when waking up can be common. (Confused and also terrified!):laugh:
Skeptical Inquirer...
I've woke people up laughing in my sleep, no idea what I was doing. Always wondered why it didn't wake me up tho.
Ghost hunters
The sheep you were counting in your sleep must have started making funny faces and made you laugh.
I wonder if it was a happy laugh or a creepy laugh? Either way, it would probably startle somebody. Hey, you could record yourself while you sleep and see if you laugh so you'd know what it sounds like.
evp recorder...
Wish I could record what the dream was to get a second laugh or to share it.
Divining rod
Some sort of dream recorder. That would be great. Could you imagine if somebody invented that? They'd probably make millions. Hey, I wonder if hypnosis would work to get you to remember what you were laughing at in your dream?
Dowsing...
Me and a couple other people were using diving rods made out of coat hangers when I was a kid. I don't remember all the details. I do remember getting a feeling in my hands that was almost like a shock and as hard as it is to describe it felt like the shock feeling was pulling me towards the water in the ground. I think they dug where my dowser lead me, but I can't quite remember if there was water or not. I think there was.
Years later I looked up dowsing on wikipedia and come to find out that "shock" feeling was likely just this:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ideomotor_phenomenon
Funny how the mind works, isn't it? I could have sworn the feeling was real. :)
Sometimes, sharing what your laughing at can be offensive to the person your with... like, someone changing a baby's diaper and not being able to handle the smell coming from the deposit inside. I truly needed a video camera for that but still dont have one.
We played lost treasure when we were kids, only treasure we ever found was dead bugs.
Have heard Dowsing rods can also lead you to Entities
Sometimes, sharing what your laughing at can be offensive to the person your with... like, someone changing a baby's diaper and not being able to handle the smell coming from the deposit inside.
lmao! That would have been a great one for funniest videos.
Somebody should have put some pieces of costume jewelry in the ground where you were digging to mess with you guys. :D:
On the property we were using the dousing rods at, inside the house the attic light used to be turned on sometimes when nobody remembered turning it on. Glad the dowsing rod never lead me to an entity!
Ghost...
Scree, a little gargoyle from the Primal video game from the Playstation 2 era. Video game didn't do that great, but I loved it. :)
what about those that sit on haunted castles
Those gargoyles are cool, too. :)
King Arthur....
I'd never heard of him before. I definitely looked up the pronunciation. (Thought maybe you'd sneezed for a second. Gesundheit!)
Gorgo...
Arachidamia...
(Sounds like she ought to be related to Spiderman.)
lol!
First World problems....
Dakeyras

Dross...
unwelcome...
I almost posted unwe;come by accident. Look at that, I almost invented a new word. :D:
your creating a new language
snubbed
hehe!
Rebuffed...
Protest...
We used to have a mini-protest almost everyday in my little town. I think it was a maximum of about four people. What they were protesting ended, so then they protested another thing for a little while, I think maybe by that point they just liked hanging out. I havn't seen them for quite a while now.
Huh. Sounds like something you'd have seen on that old King of the Hill show, doesn't it? lol!
They wanted to be seen.
arrested
contents...
Such as the contents of the container where I stick all my non-winning lottery tickets, of which I just deposited another one. (Bah, humbug!)
I gave up on winning a long time ago
nick-knacks
I won around a hundred a while back, that's about as high as I've gotten.
decorations...
....and triumphant.
I couldn't remember what lyric that was, I had to look it up. :)
G-g-g-ghost!!
(Can you tell I used to watch Scooby Doo?)
You still watch Scooby Doo?
Marley dragged chains
Not lately. I'd just sort of presumed it wasn't around anymore, but I see that there is a Scooby Doo show still running.
I love some of the rebooted tv shows that have started lately, like Murphy Brown and Dynasty. :)

I Luv Lucy will always be a favorite!

Oh, one of those hangovers. You wake up and think they must be doing construction work close by, but why in the heck have they employed a team of 58 jackhammers to construct whatever they are constructing?!? Then you realize the sound is coming from the inside of your head...
White light...
it's the painful pounding inside your head that wont relent, you make promises to never do it again, of course if you survive.
white light ==> pearly gates
Those hangovers are the worst. But I think what I used to find almost worse than that is if I got the spins. Here you are trying to appear casual and undrunk so nobody thinks you're a lightweight, and the entire room turns into a tilt-a-whirl.
Rose:
https://www.edmundsroses.com/PIXF/25570/a/PearlyGatesClimbingRose.jpg
Very pretty. I didn't know pearly gates roses existed before now. :)
I'm up front about it, I am a light weight when it comes to drinking.
I'm the one that has to deal with the hangovers, I'm the one that has to do the additional praying,
I'm the one that has to take the remarks over what I did while under the influence, mainly giggles.
The term 'them pearly gates' has been used as a name for the gateway to Heaven (old southern talk)
but the rose photo you posted was amazingly beautiful.
white roses
Just say in a scandalized voice "I was not drunk! I was wearing that lampshade ironically!"
Yorkshire...
I always wanted a black rose tattoo. But I guess that would be impossible, how would it be outlined?

man, those are pretty
I was wearing that lampshade because the lights were bright :)
You could outline the rose with a contrasting color?, white, red or yellow?
Lancashire
Yes, a white outline should work, and would probably be very pretty. :)
Now, after you say you were wearing the lampshade because the lights were too bright, you have to go all in to save face. So on a couple trips to the beach or sporting events, take a lampshade instead of sunglasses. No one will be the wiser. :rotfl:
England...

Take a few photos of you doing it first, with panoramic view so we can see if other people go along with your idea!, mainly for reactions of course

I went with cold pizza gumbo!
Okay, I lie, it was just cold pizza.

Pear flavored drinks? I didn't even know that was a thing. I bet it is delicious! :)
Brandy...
Duck, Duck, Goose (http://dailyhive.com/vancouver/robyn-gray-wins-grey-goose-pour-masters/)
It might be a lovely drink, but with apologies to Mr. Gray, it sounds kind of
I cant go for outrageous stuff, just give me a glass of red wine
Hey, I thought only us Canadians called it pop. :)

First time I tasted goat cheese, I spit it out!
warning of danger
I had some goat cheese once that wasn't too bad. It was at a food fair, and it was cream cheese made out of goat cheese, or at least that's how the salesman explained it. Not too bad that way, I must say.
The cheese I never really got to like eating was cottage cheese. I tried it many times, and it's just kind of ew.
