Now, that would be disconcerting, to say the least.
I have Intraocular Lens for distance vision, so we laugh and say I have Bionic eyeballs. So with my luck I'd see the eyeballs looking down at me very well, and I'd be unable to pretend to myself that I was seeing something else.
I'd have to hide really, or they would zoom me up I'm afraid.
My luck I'd end up in some Intergalactic Zoo or something.
LOL!
yeah, throw me in there with the ones that have 3 eyes.
Three eyed aliens would have it pretty good, if something happened to one eye they'd still have 2 left.
Blinky(the three eyed fish on The Simpsons.)
that reminds me of gremlins
Stripe...
I watched the first movie, I remember how realistic it seemed. I bet if I watched it again it wouldn't seem realistic, hehe.
There are indeed some scary movies out there, first time I watched Exorcist don't think I slept for a couple of days.
I never watched The Exorcist, believe it or not. I think I'm one of the very few people that haven't.
The first Paranormal Activity made me not sleep for a couple of days. I think it was the woman watching the guy in his sleep that freaked me out so much. Brrrrr!
Some of them can certainly be jaw dropping
I've become a fan of Ghost Adventures
I don't think I ever saw that show. They have some freaky ghost stuff on T+E sometimes.
There's another one called Paranormal caught on camera, will give you shivers too.
I've never watched that one, but I think I've heard of it. I used to watch Strange Evidence sometimes, I like that one because it usually comes up with an explanation on some things caught on camera. They usually have videos of creepy crawlies on it, which gives me the heebie jeebies, though. The last time I went to watch there was something crawling out of a toilet, and I was like "Nope!" and I don't think I've watched it since.
ewwww
Not enough bleach in the world to cleanup after that!
lol, nope.
Bob's Burgers is more my speed, I think.
A good one to watch
Maleficent
Oh, I bet that is a good one. :)
Sleeping Beauty...
That looks yummy, I'd never heard of that kind of cheese in my life, lol! We were kind of bland eaters when I was growing up.
New things....
It goes great on a Taco salad
Toast...
I tried avocado toast and it was actually pretty good, lol.
ha!
Corned beef and swiss
Oh, I loved corned beef.
Hereford...
Especially insulin nowadays. And I have the one shot a day variety.
I wish it was Over the counter in hopes of it becoming cheaper.
Yes, me too. I also wish we diabetics didn't have to inject it. Maybe some sort of insulin nasal spray or something. Or even some sort of chocolate flavoured insulin that we took in pill form(okay, now I'm just daydreaming, that'll never happen.)
I once worked with a young girl who had an insulin pump , She kept it under her clothes and what brought attention to it one day is somehow it fell out.
I felt so sorry for her but to me it was life changing.
Oh, an insulin pump would be pretty cool. My cousin had a Continuous Glucose Monitor for a while, which I thought was a pretty good thing as well. Though I only test my blood once a day, so not really good for me. My cousin doesn't have it anymore, she went down to half a metformin, then I think she was taken off all medication except Ozempic, so basically she went into remission. That's the type II diabetic dream, I was happy for her. :)
What we inherit sometimes is remarkable.
One day, there will be a cure for diabetes
Yes, someday. It would make a world of difference to many people.
Healing...
Immortality...
If that were possible, I wonder how immortality would change someone's life. You could only go on so many vacations before it eventually got boring. Maybe go on a mission to read as many books as possible? lol!
I think a many different things would get boring but, watching your favorite movie?
The Secret Life Of Pets. Though I only watched it once so far. :)
I have many favorites, Maleficent
What a coincidence, I was just reading up on the Angelina and Brad dispute over a vineyard today. :)
I think dear Brad is going to get screw.ed
I think you might be right.
Will Colbert...
Regina Phalange...
Sheree. I was thrilled to see her in Grace and Frankie.
Ever have opportunity to watch Last Man Standing? with Tim Allen?
Yes, I watched a few of those. Good show.
Helen Potts...
Rain...
Well, that's what usually happens if I even think of digging out my old tent, lol.
I'm not sleeping on the ground. Around here to many snakes.
Let's drag out a Winnebago
Ew, I'm definitely not a fan of snakes. :yuck:
I've always sort of wanted a Winnebago. My grandparents used to have an RV when I was little. They went away in it once, and then let me use it as a playhouse. Of course something that seemed great when you're four might not seem as fantastic when you're an adult, lolz.
Yes but, could be used as your Get a way
Vacation. Somewhere that doesn't have snakes, hopefully.
When I was younger I thought Hawaii was a good place to go but since friends went.....nah, don't think I want all the bugs.
But, hearing about the Alaska Cruises that's more my liking, just dress warm.
An Alaska Cruise would be fun because it would be an adventure. :)
Yea it would.
They took a special boat to watch the whales then they got to come a little close to the glaciers, but, certain times of the year you can't do that because they're calving?
While they were there they did see an ice berg roll over.
Orcas...
That must have been something! That does sound like a really fun cruise.
They said the Sea food was top notch.
That's good, it's always nice to have yummy food on a vacation.
I'm not sure if this would count as seafood, but I used to love some good dulse when I was a kid. I wasn't even deterred when I was told it was seaweed. I'm not sure if I'd still like it nowadays, haven't had it for years.
Think I'll hold off on that and go with the real McCoy
lettuce
Iceberg...
The classic 70s lettuce. I don't think I had any other kind until the 80s, lol!
Tried to eat a spinach salad once.....
It had not been washed well, left grit in my mouth.
Yuck! I love spinach, but not with grit on it. :yuck:
I remember ordering a cheeseburger on the beach when I was a 5 year old kid, and it tasted like there was sand in it. Surprisingly, I thought the cheeseburger was delicious that way. Kids are weird sometimes, lol.
Seen funny videos of people holding onto food at the beach and sea gulls swoop in and steal it, people are left awestruck.
lol! Those videos are funny.
Me, my mom and my hubby were at a dairy queen parking lot a year or so ago eating ice cream, and a gull came along and plopped down on Mom's hood. We weren't sure if ice cream would make him sick or not, so we just threw out pieces of cone.
Be my luck, he'd eat then let loose on my head as he flew over
I like those hiding in boxes, someone comes to look in then
Surprise!
some hit the floor
lol! I've never been the recipient of a bird plop as of yet, I'm hoping it stays that way.
My cat likes to play peek-a-boo, she hides under a blanket and then jumps out when you look for her. If she could yell surprise I bet she would. It's a little disconcerting because she jumps out straight up with claws extended but so far she's careful not to actually get me. :)
Had a cat that would hide under the bed, anyone walk by, she grabbed at your ankles
lol. She was letting everyone know she was there, I bet.
I met a new kitty over by my Mom's today, a couple had the kitty I usually see out on her harness, but they had their other new kitty outside on her harness for the first time. Both very sweet cats.
Pounce...
My brother and his wife were in bed, their cat entered the room often, she felt it playing with her hair and she opened her eyes to see the cat actually walking in the door
She screamed and they both bolted up and saw a little mouse running
Needless to say, that cat ain't doing it's job.
Yikes! I would have screamed, too. I bet that cat had to take a pay cut...30% less treats.
My best friend used to have three cats, and a couple rats still tunneled up into her house. I couldn't decide if the rats were brazen or a bit dim. I guess they were brazen because the cats left them alone, and she had to get an exterminator in.
My cat is currently banned from our bedroom when we're sleeping. I woke up in the night because she was using her paw to bat at my eyeball. I'm not a fan of that game, lol. :D:
Tom &Jerry...
It's a good thing all this happens when we're young, I'd have a heart attack at this age.
My luck, I'd have a heart attack and just think it was a panic attack.
I used to panic when I saw blood, but I also used to almost faint.
I think I'd be OK if I don't smell it
Yes, I always used to think blood had an iron-like smell. What always bothered me the most is the sight of blood, for some reason.
I don't mind blood so much now, however when I go for blood tests, I still stare at the clock so I don't see it going in the needle.
One of the people who work taking blood told my Mom once that on his very first day there he drew blood from someone, asked them if they were doing okay, then promptly passed out!
LOL
Most of the time it's pretty quick.
Fast...
Usually, though sometimes mine takes a bit longer because I have small veins, apparently. Then we have to do the "I can't get any from this arm, I'll switch to the other arm" dance.
Had a young girl once trying, 3 times and a no go
Said that's it, I'm done
The doctor came in and got it on the first go
I was about to throw a fit.
I can imagine. I'd be ready to throw a fit, too. I'm probably not explaining this right or may have misremembered, but I remember an older man saying he had a younger woman who was just new not be able to get blood from his vein so she went up through his arm or something? I'm not sure if I have that right, but whatever it was, it was pretty brutal, I guess.
We used to be able go in and get blood taken between 7 and 12 Monday to Friday as long as we had a requisition sheet, but since covid we have to make an appointment now. It's too bad(though I know necessary) because you could leave it until the last minute if you liked before appointments. Good for those "Oops! Accidentally stumbled out of bed and drank a glass of milk" moments.
Lots of people have horror stories.
When we tested to see if we had Covid, they stuck that thing up our nose
That hurt!
I never had to have a Covid test yet, but my Mom had the Covid test in her nose, and she said how much it hurt. She had the misfortune to have pneumonia during the Covid days and had to go to Outpatients for it, which was a bit of an ordeal for her and the doctors/nurses, as you can imagine.
I think nowadays it can be a throat swab, can't it?
My first Covid shot I had I felt fine afterwards, but when I got the second one I didn't feel sick or anything, I just didn't feel quite right. My best friend's hubby said he felt pretty much the same with the second one. :)
I've had pneumonia, not easy to recover from.
I'm not sure how they test for it now.....don't really care to do it again either.
My first vaccine shot gave me the side effect of getting sick, was as if I was going through Covid, second vaccine shot just about made my arm fall off, swelling and inflammation was bad....
During that I commented, this better work!
Ouchie!
Kill or cure...
Don't know what goes on in your neck of the woods (over the origins of Covid) but here
Seems, controversy and cover up
Subterfuge...
I remember in early 2020 before any lockdowns or anything, somebody asked what I thought would happen with covid-19. I shrugged and replied that I thought not much would happen with it, basically that it would be in the news a bit then gone. Methinks I may have been a little wrong on that!
Oh just a twiddle bit
disinfect
haha!
Sanitizer...
When you look back on the lockdown, it seems pretty surreal now. I never imagined living through a lockdown in my wildest dreams. I almost feel superstitious mentioning it, like if I do we'll have another one.
YIKES!
Then put a zipper on it.
lol, mum's the word. :lip:
My mother told me once when I wouldn't be quiet, she was going to glue my mouth shut!
lol, were you a chatty cathy?
I was always kind of quiet. I think my mom sort of wished I'd talk more, lolz.
well, sort of
I kinda talked back when I should had kept my mouth shut?
That's nuthin', you were probably just a good candidate for some sort of debate club.
Mostly, I got on everyone's nerves
My best friend has always been loud, mouthy, kind of obnoxious, a bit grating....and right there when you need her in a pinch. Sometimes people who are a bit nerve-racking can be a whole lot of wonderful wrapped up in a confusing, cactus like parcel, lol!
You accept a true friend as they are, not by changing them.
Yes. Or as Popeye would tell 'em, "I yam what I yam." :)
Reminds me of my grandmother
Mercy, mercy me
Sounds like a grandma with confidence. :)
Oh, my!...
my grandma, bless her, would call me a
doubting Thomas
Skeptic...
I'm not always totally skeptical, but I usually look at rational explanations first. It's always served me pretty well. :)
I hold off on believing many things, then remain to have an open mind on some that have no explanation.
Yes, that's how I am, too.
Unbiased...
I've read things online before where the "rational explanation" defies logic as much as the "unrational explanation". It's kinda funny sometimes.
I'll guarantee ya this
I see something half shadow and half transparent
I'm splitting, I'm gone not even grabbing anyone with me on the way out!
Yes, same here.
Zoom!...
LOL
I'll place garlic and burn Sage if that's what they use, for a year.
hehe! Ever watch Ghosts? The American one not the UK one. I remember in one of the first couple episodes they tried to use sage to get rid of the ghosts, and the ghosts thought it smelled nice.
Be my luck
They've got so many different ghost shows on now you can't keep up with it now.
4 Leaf Clover...
hehe! There'd probably be a bunch of ghosts going to your place because they like the sage smell.
It's the funny sitcom Ghosts show, American is on CBS. I started watching the UK version on CBC, my friend was watching the American version. She started telling me she loved the show Ghosts, not knowing there was a UK version. I responded oh yes, I love that show. Then we started talking about it, and looking at each other funny because we were describing things in the show, and one is a bit different than the other one.
I did start watching the CBS one, I'll pick up the UK one at some point.

Uk series:

Always have a camera ready, and if you find something you can submit it to
Paranormal caught on Camera
That show posts some freaky stuff.
Huh. No chance of that happening, I'd be much too busy screaming in terror and running away faster than the Flash to take a picture. I'd probably throw my phone at whatever appeared before me, too! Actually, I might scream and run in terror just watching the show, lol!
I never watched the paranormal shows too much. I did catch an episode or two of The Dead Files...
Oh my gosh, Ohhh my gosh
Amy Allen
You know, she quit the show but the detective Steve stayed and they had a new person step in.......
Ratings went down terribly.
No idea what people will do now.
Oh, I didn't know that. I used to have Discovery + and I switched back to Netflix a while back, so I hadn't watched The Dead Files for awhile. I also used to watch A Crime To Remember a lot, too.
Clueless...
If I had visions like those people do
Think I'd sleep all the time so I wouldn't see it.
What's the word? Ah, Ghost.. Then, Phantom
Apparently this thread has become a public discussion group for 2 members. though I didn't dig back far enough to see how long that's been true.
After reading the response from the MS Community forums contact about their request that I become a moderator, I thought of these forums and tried to login, getting the password correct on my second try after what I believe was 6 years and my last PM to Zenobia.
I'm last man standing from the original members of the WLOC and later MSE forum that opened what's now called Microsoft Community, though still uses the original Answers.microsoft.com URL.
Glad to see someone's still here, they've been dropping like flies over at our place. I did make it to Canada in October 2018, and the temperatures were in the 70's and I believe nearly 80 the day spent in Toronto, though it rained the last day as I left southeastern Nova Scotia for the US via Bangor, Maine. Stayed in an Airbnb in Lunenburg a couple blocks off the coast. All in all, a great trip.
Sometimes three members...
The Third Man
Hi, bitman. :)
I've never watched The Third Man but I just read the wiki summary and that was a roller coaster of a movie.
Third Man Factor...
Being...
Here I was happily online absently wondering if I was hearing a loud truck and it's thunder.
EVP
Hate it when there is a loud thunder clap right over the house, you'll jump for sure.
Spirit Box...
My cat was definitely not a fan. It's the first time it thundered since I got her, and I didn't know she was frightened. She was living in a parking lot before we got her, and I find she's quite timid of a lot of things. She's still young yet, so she might grow out of it. :)
I jump just about every time.
If I were to hear someone, voice from a small box say
Help me........I'm gone someone help me!
lol! I hear you on that, I'd be outta there.
SOS...
That reminds me of that movie Tom Hanks was in Stowaway?
He arranged logs on the beach to say SOS and lit them on fire
of course no one ever saw it.
I never saw that one, but wasn't that the movie where he had a volleyball named Wilson as a friend while he was stranded?
Yes
and all he could do at that time was rely on coconuts for food and water and had a yucky ducky side effect.
Icky...
I like coconuts, but I couldn't imagine having only that to eat. I dunno if you could sort of toast it over fire or something to sort of jazz it up a l'il bit or not.
They say, if you get hungry enough you'll eat things you never imagined
Daydream...
Yes, they will. After I read your post I got to thinking if someone was stranded somewhere could they eat grass to survive. The somewhat confusing internet answer seems to be no, though this survivalist blog does list some types of nutritional grass that could be eaten:
https://www.primalsurvivor.net/can-humans-eat-grass/
ohhh ick
I think you'd be eating some small little critters that our systems can't handle.
blech!...
I suppose it would be best if everybody looked up what we could eat in a bad situation from a reputable source, because you never know. The only thing I really know is the difference between snake berries and box berries, you look at the stems. But I was told that when I was young, so who knows if that's true.
I'd be lost for sure and, around here up in the mountains, you see berries, and then paw prints on the ground around that?
It's best to leave without looking around much because mr. or mrs. bear is probably watching you for stealing their berry supply.
I looked up if there was a word for when you feel an animal or person watching you and the only thing I found was Gaze detection...
Mr. or Mrs. Bear are probably thinking "Don't eat my berries, they'll make a nice garnish for when I catch you!"
We don't have super aggressive bears around here but for some reason whenever I walk in the woods I always worry about seeing one. Then I look up instructions on what to do if you encounter a bear for next time, then promptly forget those instructions once I read them, then go through the whole process again next time.
Sometimes we have a 6th or 7th sense that is very good at alerting us.
My first one is the "Oh brother" feeling then about that time another kicks in "will they smell that"?
lol!
I wish my sixth or seventh sense would have alerted me today that there was a big ole raccoon climbing up towards me when I was outside, but I had nuthin'. It bared it's teeth at my husband and almost bit him. I usually like raccoons (from a distance) but this one was aggressive. It didn't look unhealthy so hopefully not rabid. I figure to be that aggressive maybe somebody has been feeding it.
Hackles...
This time of year since the weather has warmed up, those bearing their teeth around here are snakes
especially around water.
I've had a snake phobia since I stepped on one when I was walking up from the shore when I was a kid. They give me the heebie-jeebies!
I've learned how to do some awkward looking high stepping
Ha, I'd float across snake prone areas if I could.
The Hindenburg could float across the sky, but if I still saw the snakes I'd be a basket case.
Dookie was the first music album I bought. Green Day
Yes, they're out of California
home to the world's major movie studios
MGM...
I used to like seeing their lion. :)
You know, they could have the worlds most trained Lion in an arena, loving on everybody.
I'm not stepping in there.
Not with the kind of luck I have.
You'll have to get some four-leaf clovers to improve your luck. Though I could have a hundred four leaf clovers and I still wouldn't trust going near a lion, not even the MGM one.
Some used to say it brought good luck to carry a Rabbit foot with you.
One day as a child I thought, wasn't very lucky for the rabbit?
I remember those. Your child self had a good point.
We used to eat wild bunny when I was a kid, and they were absolutely delicious. Which looking back on as an adult, I find mildly horrifying!
LOL
Mother said it was the 'bunny' who hid all the Easter eggs but, how can that happen?
A bunny doesn't lay Eggs
I think some of my friends' parents told them that only the Easter Bunny laid eggs because he was special because he's the Easter bunny. You'd have thought the 'he' part would have raised even more questions, but I don't recall anybody asking any.
Wonder what the parents answers would had been?
lol, I dunno, but bet they would have been interesting.
For Easter my family mainly just used to give you a chocolate bunny and call it a day, so I didn't have too many questions. But Santa was a different matter. Mainly how was he going to bring presents in if we didn't have a chimney? My Mom always said he used the front door instead, lol.
I was told one invisibly created.
Hey, that was a pretty creative answer. Your parents could really come up with stuff on the fly. :)
Covert...
Told us to stay out of the cookies and mild to
Me, told Mom, they were eaten by him but that she couldn't see that either.
Haha!
Maybe she noticed that Sanata left less crumbs than usual, and became suspicous that it might be you guys that had some cookies instead. :oreo:
They didn't leave enough out, there was so many of us, we fought over what was there.
I hope you won, Juliet.
Didnt receive notification
You know, some days you feel like a nut?
Not meeeee, I always feel perfectly sane. :eyetwitch: :eyetwitch:
Acorns...
reminds me of John Denver
I don't remember a lot of his songs. I'd probably recognize them if I heard them playing.
Annie's Song...
Yeah it was
Wichita Lineman
I saw that and thought Soup!
hehe!
My favorite is Chicken Noodle.
Tomato with heavy cream and a grilled cheese please.
I'm sitting here wishing for a remake
Careful, remember what happened when they remade the Coca Cola formula.
I remember I sort of liked the New Coke, but I didn't tell anyone at the time. I never really liked pop much anyways, I preferred milk or tea.
PR Nightmare...
People just about boycotted it and sales went up for the competitors.
Yes, and the late night comedians had a field day, haha!
Pepsi...
7-UP...
Despite the similarities I don't think they ever had a rivalry, did they?
I felt that Sprite and Mello Yello were
I've never had Mello Yello before. Besides 7-UP and Sprite I think the only other clear pop I've had was Mountain Dew.
I try to stay away from surgery drinks, mostly I drink Green Tea with Citrus
I like to have chamomile tea once in a while. I always put milk in it, though. :)
I wish there was a miracle drink that took care of all aches and pains.
I got into trouble in elementary school for that
Homework
I used to get in trouble in junior high Science class because my seat was right next to the ground floor window and for some reason I used to stare out and daydream there, and only there.
We used to have a really wonderful teacher who didn't believe in homework. He always said we needed to learn about life by going out and living it, and we wouldn't learn it if we were stuck doing homework every night. He even used to help us study in class the day before a test.
We still cut up anyways, I don't know how some of those teachers made it to retirement
Most of our teachers were pretty....how do you put it...unfazeable. And by and large most students didn't mess with them because of that. But the substitutes had a very difficult time, as I recall. I still remember one screaming "You people are animals!!!" at the top of her lungs.
I don't know whatever happened to her because I never saw her again, but I hope she ended up retiring on the Riviera or something.
Couple of the alternatives now are Home schooling or online classes which I don't think worked very well.
Virtual...
Back when I was in Elementary School having online classes was still like something you'd see on The Jetsons. I also think back then if someone had suggested to parents that they home school their kids they'd probably have said "Nooooo thank you! I can barely handle summer vacation as it is." and sent them packing off to school.
Cyber
My mom had 5 kids, I can tell you that her reply would not had been pleasant.
lol! It was just me growing up but I'm sure my parents waited for school to start by abooout July 1st.
Security...
Evolving....
We could hardly wait for school to be out but we had no idea how boring summer could be either.
Was glad when I became old enough to go to summer camp.
Change...
I never really went to summer camp. I went to Brownie camp once, but wasn't a real fan.
Let me tell you about summer camp
No fun, absolutely no fun when you step into or onto a Bee's nest.
My group of girls did, we were screaming, running, crying and I saw one girl that even had them in her socks.
Honey - I did not like honey as a child.
Honey is good on biscuits
Molasses
I read a book many moons ago called Bread & Molasses that was pretty funny.
to me it always tasted like brown sugar liquefied.
Yeah, I guess it does taste similar. Speaking of brown sugar, I always remember as a kid family members having it in a cupboard for years and years, and wondering what they used it for. I still don't know because I never asked.
Sugar Cubes...
I think my mother made cookies from it.
sugar cubes=> coffee
Maybe that's why my family members had it. It never seemed to be used, it just sort of stayed there and none ever seemed to be missing from it, lol.
Cafe Mocha...
I worked with a woman once who used brown sugar in her coffee
So.... I tried it, must be an acquired taste.
Yeah, that seems like something where the strong taste of coffee and then brown sugar wouldn't pair together real well. I switched to tea and sweetener years ago, so now white sugar tastes kind of funny to me whenever I have it. :)
I don't drink much tea anymore.
My mother drank black coffee, that is the yuckiest stuff.
I used to drink coffee for a couple years, but I could never drink black coffee. Blech.
The mostly universally understood coffee order across Canada: double double.
That sounds like someone ordering a shot of whiskey
Whiskey Sour...
hehe, I guess it does sound like a whiskey order.
