hi,

thanks for the list. thats all of it? thats the shortest one ive seen.

we will remove some items with hjt to see if that takes care of the problem: before using hjt you should disable spybots tea timer and any other real time protection you might have running see the list here:
http://www.landzdown.com/index.php/topic,422.0.html

after you use hjt, you can renable them. actually you should only have a single real time component running.

start HJT, click the "Scan" button. check the items below, close any open windows, then click "Fixed checked"

hi,

sorry for the delay. post a combofix log;

Download combofix from one of these links and save it to Desktop:

http://subs.geekstogo.com/ComboFix.exe
http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe

as a precaution, before using combofix:

Note:Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

* Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before performing a scan.
* Click on this link below to see a list of programs that should be disabled. The list is not all inclusive. If yours is not listed and you don't know how to disable it, please ask.
* Remember to re enable the protection again afterwards before connecting to the net

link:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic114351.html

2. Close any open browsers and make sure you are disconnected from the net. Unplug the cable if need be before running combofix.

* IF you have not already done so Combofix will disconnect your machine from the Internet when it starts.
* If there is no internet connection when Combofix has completely finished then restart your computer to restore back the connections.

3. Now double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
When finished, it will produce a report for you.
Please post the "C:\ComboFix.txt" along with a new HijackThis log for further review

Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall or freeze.

hi,

ok we can try this but no promises. the file below is in combofix's quarantine folder.

adssite-remover.exe

we will move the file out to the desktop, get it checked out and run it.
to find the file:
right click on start>explore in the left pane clcik on Local Disk (usually C:/)
in the right pane you should see Qoobox, doubleclick it then a folder called>Quarantine>C>Windows>and last system32 folder.
inside the system32 folder you should see a file;
adssite-remover.exe.vir
notice the extension .vir
drag and move the file to your desktop.
next got to this website, browse for the file and click the send button.
http://www.virustotal.com/
if you dont see any results listed in the virustotal scan.
run the uninstaller off the desktop.
but first you have to remove the .vir extension from the file-- you can rename the file adssite-remove.exe
doubleclick it, reboot and see if things improve. if not we can do something else.
if you have any questions, post back first as iam not the best direction "giver"

hi,

thanks for the info. so you ran the uninstaller? please remove combofix like this:

start>run and type in the window:
combofix /u

note; there is a space after the x and before the /
--------------------------
post another uninstall list:

start hjt, click on open misc tools section
click on open uninstall manager
click on save list
save and post the list in next reply

look here:
C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\components\

see if you can find and delete this .dll
nsBrowserOpt.dll
