WELL I BASICALLY GOT INFECTED WITH A LOT OF COOKIES AND TROJANS.:oops:
I RAN SPYBOT, BUT CANT SEEM TO GET RID OF VIRTUMONDE. AND I DONT REALLY HAVE CONTROL OVER THE COMPUTER FOR LONG, THE DOCK, TASKBAR, DESKTOP DISSAPEARS AND I CANT GO THROUGH MY FILES EITHER.
I DONT KNOW WHAT ELSE I COULD POSSIBLY DO ON THE COUNT OF I'M TOTALLY ILLITERATE WHEN IT COMES TO COMPUTERS.

Hello and welcome to Safer Networking.
My name is km2357 and I will be helping you to remove any infection(s) that you may have.
I will be giving you a series of instructions that need to be followed in the order in which I give them to you.
If for any reason you do not understand an instruction or are just unsure then please do not guess, simply post back with your questions/concerns and we will go through it again.
Please do not start another thread or topic, I will assist you at this thread until we solve your problems.
Lastly the fix may take several attempts and my replies may take some time but I will stick with it if you do the same.
Step # 1: Download and Run HijackThis
Download HJTInstall.exe (http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/threat_analytics/HJTInstall.exe) to your Desktop.
Doubleclick HJTInstall.exe to install it.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
Click on Install.
It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
Copy/Paste the log to your next reply please.
Don't use the Analyse This button, its findings are dangerous if misinterpreted.
Don't have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.
Step # 2: Make an uninstall list using HijackThis
To access the Uninstall Manager you would do the following:
1. Start HijackThis
2. Click on the Config button
3. Click on the Misc Tools button
4. Click on the Open Uninstall Manager button.
5. Click on the Save list... button and specify where you would like to save this file. When you press Save button a notepad will open with the contents of that file. Simply copy and paste the contents of that notepad here on your next reply.
Post the HiJackThis Log and Uninstall List in your next post/reply.

Step # 1: Disable Teatimer
Spybot S&D's tea timer normally provides real-time protection from spyware, however it may interfere with what we need to do. We will disable it until the machine is clean when it can be re-enabled.
This is a two step process.
First step: Right-click the Spybot Icon in the System Tray (looks like a blue/white calendar with a padlock symbol)
If you have the new version 1.5, Click once on Resident Protection, then Right click the Spybot icon again and make sure Resident Protection is now Unchecked. The Spybot icon in the System tray should now be now colorless.
If you have Version 1.4, Click on Exit Spybot S&D Resident Second step, For Either Version : Open Spybot S&D
Click Mode, choose Advanced Mode
Go To the bottom of the Vertical Panel on the Left, Click Tools
then, also in left panel, click Resident shows a red/white shield.
If your firewall raises a question, say OK
In the Resident protection status frame, Uncheck the box labeled Resident "Tea-Timer"(Protection of over-all system settings) active
OK any prompts.
Use File, Exit to terminate Spybot
Reboot your machine for the changes to take effect.
Step # 2: Download and Run ComboFix
We'll begin with ComboFix.exe. Please visit this webpage for download links, and instructions for running the tool: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix
When the tool is finished, it will produce a report for you.
Please post the C:\ComboFix.txt along with a new HijackThis log so we may continue cleaning the system.

Hi. Please don't type in all-caps, it means you are shouting when you do that.
In the System tray, do you see an icon that looks like a blue/white calendar with a padlock symbol? That's SpyBot S&D's icon. Next depending on what version of SpyBot S&D you have, you want to do the following:

Step # 1: Add/Remove Programs
Go to start > control panel > programs and features.
Right click on each instance of:
PeoplePC:PeoplePal Toolbar 6.5
Click Uninstall & then follow the prompts to remove it.
Step # 2: Run CFScript
Please delete the version of ComboFix you have on your computer, I need you to download the latest version of ComboFix by sUBs here (http://subs.geekstogo.com/ComboFix.exe) and save it to your Desktop.
Then, please open Notepad (Start -> Run -> type notepad in the Open field -> OK) and copy and paste the text present inside the code box below:

Save this as CFScript.txt and change the "Save as type" to "All Files" and place it on your desktop.

ComboFix will now run a scan on your system. It may reboot your system when it finishes. This is normal.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Copy and paste the contents of the log in your next reply.
CAUTION: Do not mouse-click ComboFix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.
Step # 3: Remove Hijackthis Entries
Right click on HijackThis and click Run as administrator
Click on do a system scan only
Place a checkmark next to these lines(if still present)

Step # 2 Update Adobe Acrobat Reader
There is a newer version of Adobe Acrobat Reader available. (See Note below)
First, go to Add/Remove Programs and uninstall all previous versions.
Please go to this link Adobe Acrobat Reader Download Link (http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html)
On the right Untick Adobe Phototshop Album Starter Edition if you do not wish to include this in the installation.
Click the Continue button
Click Run, and click Run again
Next click the Install Now button and follow the on screen prompts
Note: Adobe 8 is a large program and if you prefer a smaller program you can get Foxit 2.0 instead from http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/rd_intro.php
Step # 3: Run CFScript
Please delete the version of ComboFix you have on your computer, I need you to download the latest version of ComboFix by sUBs here (http://subs.geekstogo.com/ComboFix.exe) and save it to your Desktop.
Also delete the CFScript.txt from your Desktop, you will be creating and running a new one.
Then, please open Notepad (Start -> Run -> type notepad in the Open field -> OK) and copy and paste the text present inside the code box below:

C:\Windows\System32\cbxwt.dll
Save this as CFScript.txt and change the "Save as type" to "All Files" and place it on your desktop.

Referring to the screenshot above, drag CFScript.txt into ComboFix.exe.
ComboFix will now run a scan on your system. It may reboot your system when it finishes. This is normal.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Copy and paste the contents of the log in your next reply.
CAUTION: Do not mouse-click ComboFix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.
Step # 4: Download and Run ATF Cleaner
Download ATF (Atribune Temp File) Cleaner© by Atribune (http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=1) to your desktop.
Right-click on ATF Cleaner.exe and choose Run as Administrator
Under Main choose:
Windows Temp
Current User Temp
All Users Temp
Temporary Internet Files
Prefetch
Java Cache
*The other boxes are optional*
Then click the Empty Selected button.
Firefox:
Click Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click NO at the prompt.
Opera:
Click Opera at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click NO at the prompt.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.
Step # 5 Download and Run Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (http://www.besttechie.net/tools/mbam-setup.exe) to your desktop.
Right-click on mbam-setup.exe and choose Run as Administrator and follow the prompts to install the program.
Be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
Once the program has loaded, select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.
When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location.
You can also access the log by doing the following:
Click on the Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware icon to launch the program.
Click on the Logs tab.
Click on the log at the bottom of those listed to highlight it.
Click Open.
In your next post/reply, I need to see the results from either Jotti or Virustotal, the ComboFix Log, the MalwareBytes Anti-Malware log, and a fresh HiJackThis log. If you can't fit everything into one post, use multiple posts/replies to get it all in.

Do you have either Firefox or Opera installed? If not those buttons/tabs will be greyed out. If they are, you can skip those parts and just do this one:

Step # 1: Run Kaspersky Online Scan
Please do an online scan with Kaspersky WebScanner (http://www.kaspersky.com/kos/english/kavwebscan.html)
You must be using Internet Explorer, Kaspersky does not work with Firefox
Click Accept
You will be promted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky,
Click Yes.
The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
Now click on Scan Settings
In the scan settings make sure that the following are selected:
Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
Extended (if available otherwise Standard)
Scan Options:
Scan Archives Scan Mail Bases
Click OK
Now under select a target to scan:
Select My Computer
The program will start and scan your system.
The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
Now click on the Save as Text button:
Once finished, save the log to your Desktop as filename KAV.txt
Note for Internet Explorer 7 users: If at any time you have trouble with the accept button of the licence, click on the Zoom tool located at the right bottom of the IE window and set the zoom to 75 %. Once the license accepted, reset to 100%.

Save it to your desktop.

To delete ComboFix, do the following:
Open up the Run command by pressing the Windows button and R button at the same time. The Windows button is at the bottom-left of the keyboard between the Ctrl and Alt buttons.
Once the Run command window opens type in ComboFix /u & click OK.
To delete OTMoveIT2, do the following:

Hide system files
Right click on the Start menu and select Explore.
Click on Tools > Folder Options....
Select the View tab.
Under Hidden files and folders, select Do not show hidden files and folders.
Check (tick) these two boxes: Hide extensions for known file types
Hide protected operating system files (Recommended) Click Yes when Windows prompts.
Click OK to apply the settings.
Flush the system restore points
Click on Start.
Right click on Computer and select Properties.
Click on System Protection under Tasks section.
Uncheck (untick) all the boxes under Create restore points automatically on the selected disks section.
Click OK.
Restart your computer.
After restarting your computer, follow these steps:
Click on Start.
Right click on Computer and select Properties.
Click on System Protection under Tasks section.
Check (tick) all the boxes under Create restore points automatically on the selected disks section.
Click OK.
Restart your computer.
Note: Do this only ONCE, don't flush it regularly.
Enable UAC
While UAC in Vista is certainly annoying to some extent, it offers some protection for Windows. Here's an explanation - http://www.dcr.net/~w-clayton/Vista/UAC/UAC_app_compat_and_virtualization.htm
Click on Start > Control Panel.
Double click on User Accounts.
Under Make changes to your user account, click on Turn User Account Control on or off.
Check (tick) this box: Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect the computer.
Click OK.
Keep your system updated
Update Windows
Microsoft releases patches for Windows and Office products regularly to patch up Windows and Office products loopholes and fix any bugs found. Please ensure that you visit the following websites regularly or do update your system regularly.
Install the updates immediately if they are found. Reboot your computer if necessary, revisit Windows Update and Office update sites until there are no more updates to be installed.
To update Windows, click on Start > Windows Update (or Start > All Programs > Windows Update if you are using the new Vista Start Menu). If the Windows Update is not found there, go to this link - http://update.microsoft.com/ .
Besides Windows that needs regular updating, antivirus, anti-spyware and firewall programs update regularly too.
Please make sure that you update your antivirus, firewall and anti-spyware programs at least once a week.
Be careful when opening attachments and downloading files.
Never open email attachments, not even if they are from someone you know. If you need to open them, scan them with your antivirus program before opening.
Never open emails from unknown senders.
Beware of emails that warn about viruses that are spreading, especially those from antivirus vendors. These email addresses can be easily spoofed. Check the antivirus vendor websites to be sure.
Be careful of what you download. Only download files from known sources. Also, avoid cracked programs. If you need a particular program that costs too much for you, try finding free alternatives on Sourceforge (http://sourceforge.net/) or Pricelessware (http://www.pricelesswarehome.org/).
Backup regularly
You never know when your PC will become unstable or become so infected that you can't recover it. Winpatrol is heuristic protection program, meaning it looks for patterns in codes that work like malware. It also takes a snapshot of your system's critical resources and alerts you to any changes that may occur without you knowing. Hosts File
A Hosts file is like a phone book. You look up someone's name in the phone book before calling him/her. Similarly, your PC will look up the website's IP address before you can view the website.
Hosts file will replace your current Hosts file with another one containing well-known advertisement sites, spyware sites and other bad sites. This new Hosts file will protect you by re-directing these bad sites to 127.0.0.1.

Before downloading any anti-spyware programs, always check the Rogue/Suspect list of anti-spyware programs (http://www.spywarewarrior.com/rogue_anti-spyware.htm) and Malwarebytes RogueNET (http://www.malwarebytes.org/roguenet.php). I can't find tools on the step about Hiding system files. Please help.
After you right-click on the start menu and choose Explore and once Vista Explorer opens up, press the Alt button, the Tools menu should appear at the top of the screen.
