Security warning: your computer may be infected with harmful or unwanted software!

Hello...I have this icon on my taskbar that keeps popping up whenever I log on. The icon is a red circle with an exclamation point. A message pops up from that icon at the startup. The message is the following: Security warning: your computer may be infected with harmful or unwanted software!

I have scanned my computer with ad-aware 2007 and it did not fic the problem. Also, I must tell you that the way it started (I think) is that as I was upgrading msn messenger, there was a file called winupdate.exe that kept on cropping up as dangerous and then I went and found it and deleted it, and now everytime I log in, there is a message saying
'We cant find winupdate.exe'
and the next message says something about either re installing it or removing it from the registery.

Maybe they are not related, I am just confused,
and I noticed that you offer individual advice in this forum so I would appreciate some guidance.

Click here (http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/threat_analytics/HJTInstall.exe) to download HJTInstall.exe
Save HJTInstall.exe to your desktop.
Doubleclick on the HJTInstall.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
Click on Install.
It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
DO NOT use the AnalyseThis button, its findings are dangerous if misinterpreted.
DO NOT have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.
