View Full Version : Wininet.dll Question

For the last couple of weeks, I have been redirected when I first open Internet Explorer to xpantivirus.com. This seems to only happen once a day. However, Spybot gives me a clean bill of health (Congratulations..), xpantivirus does not appear anywhere in the registry, nor do I have any of the other signs that xpantivirus was installed. After poking around a bit, the only thing that looks suspicious to me is the wininet.dll shows as being modified within the last couple of weeks, and the date stamp does not match what Microsoft claims it should be with that version. I have run SFC /scannow and it did not identify any issues with wininet.dll.

I am running Windows Vista with IE7, and the wininet.dll version is 7.0.6000.16609

I'm about as far as I know how to get. Is it possible wininet is really the issue? And if so, how do I get a good copy of that version?

Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks
Mike
