Hi,
I have posted a thread here before, with the same topic. I was adviced to run Windows in safe mode, then run Spybot in order to remove Pipas.A
That seemed to work, an Pipas.A has been gone for quite long, but now it is back.. I hope you can help me get rid of it for good...

Here is my HJT-log;

Hello

Please download FixWareout from
http://downloads.subratam.org/Fixwareout.exe

Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish.
The fix will begin; follow the prompts.
You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so.
Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.
Once the desktop loads post the text that will open (report.txt) and a new Hijackthis log in the forum please.

Close all browser, Start Hijackthis and place a check next to these items If there.

Hit fix checked and close Hijackthis.

Note:
If You have connection problems or those 017's ~ 85.255.116.173,85.255.112.166, return >
Before doing this write down all the settings, Note that not all system/setups even have these settings, While some connection service's will require them.
In the windows control panel. If you are using Windows XP's Category View, select the Network and Internet Connections category otherwise double click on Network Connections. Then right click on your default connection, usually local area connection for cable and dsl, and left click on properties. Double-click on the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) item and select the radio dial that says Obtain DNS servers automatically
Press OK twice to get out of the properties screen and reboot if it asks.
That option might not be avaiable one some systems

Manualy delete these files, be carefull.

How did that go ?

It went fine, thank you!

However;
In your list over what to delete, you have mentioned 3 "017's ~ 85.255.116.173,85.255.112.166"....
But when I ran HJT after reading your reply, it only found 1... Is that something to "worry" about? ..or is it OK?
PS! I checked the "Obtain DNS servers automatically" before I ran HJT, is that the reason why I only found 1?

I also wonder; is "fixwareout" something I should run frequently, or should I delete it from my desktop?

Thats fine, are there any 017's ~ "85.255.116" etc etc now ?
Any other problems at all ?

Dont run fixwareout again, it is not needed, if it ever is again we would need to see logs and it will probaly have been changed (updated)
You can delete its download and the C:\fixwareout folder

Put in place a good hosts file
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm
How To Download and Extract the HOSTS file:
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts2.htm
Replace it about once monthly to keep it updated

I've run HJT a couple of times since I you adviced me. and no '017's ~ "85.255.116" etc etc ' appeared...

Everything seems to work fine now. I Also did a spybot-scan and an Ad-aware scan, and they didn't report anything (besides some cookies in the Ad-Aware-scan)..

One last question; when my anti-virus program (Avast!) has detected something, I've usually deleted the file infected. Is that "the right thing" to do, or should I do otherwise (rename file, move file to...)?

Thanks again for your help, I'm most greatful!!!

Hi

It depends on the virus/trojan, let the avtivirus do what it wants with the any files found, generaly if its a lagitamat file (It usualy isnt) it need's to be cleaned, if its not move to virus vault or deleted..

Im Glad we could help
Since the problems are solved Im going to close the topic now, this keeps others with similar problems from posting there logs/question here, they should start a new topic.
If you should need to post another log for the same PC let Me or Tashi know.
