Hi Jessarae

Click here (http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/threat_analytics/HJTInstall.exe) to download HJTInstall.exe
Save HJTInstall.exe to your desktop.
Doubleclick on the HJTInstall.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
Click on Install.
It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
DO NOT use the AnalyseThis button, its findings are dangerous if misinterpreted.
DO NOT have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

Hi

Download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri) to your Desktop.
http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix.exe

Double-click SmitfraudFix.exe
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press Enter
This program will scan large amounts of files on your computer for known patterns so please be patient while it works. When it is done, the results of the scan will be displayed and it will create a log named rapport.txt in the root of your drive, eg: Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log along with all others requested in your next reply.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other options until you are asked to do so!

**If the tool fails to launch from the Desktop, please move SmitfraudFix.exe directly to the root of the system drive (usually C:), and launch from there.

Hi

Please print out or copy these instructions/tutorial to Notepad as the internet will not be (while in Safe Mode) available to you at certain points of the removal process. Make sure to work through all the Steps in the exact order in which they are listed below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before moving on with the fixes.

Download and scan with SUPERAntiSpyware (http://www.superantispyware.com/) Free for Home Users Double-click SUPERAntiSpyware.exe and use the default settings for installation.
An icon will be created on your desktop. Double-click that icon to launch the program.
If asked to update the program definitions, click "Yes". If not, update the definitions before scanning by selecting "Check for Updates". (If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download and unzip them from here (http://www.superantispyware.com/definitions.html).)
______________________________

Reboot your computer in Safe Mode.
If the computer is running, shut down Windows, and then turn off the power.
Wait 30 seconds, and then turn the computer on.
Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears. If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. To resolve this, restart the computer and try again.
Ensure that the Safe Mode option is selected.
Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.
Login on your usual account.
______________________________

Double-click on SmitfraudFix.exe
Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press Enter.
Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.
You will be prompted : "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ?" answer Yes by typing Y and hit Enter.
The tool will also check if wininet.dll is infected. If a clean version is found, you will be prompted to replace wininet.dll. Answer Yes to the question "Replace infected file ?" by typing Y and hit Enter.

A reboot may be needed to finish the cleaning process, if you computer does not restart automatically please do it yourself manually. Reboot in Safe Mode.

The tool will create a log named rapport.txt in the root of your drive, eg: Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log along with all others requested in your next reply.

Hi Shaba,

I did the first thing that you asked me to ( Download and scan with super antispyware free for home users )

I followed all the directions and scanned and deleted the stuff they told me too and rebooted and when I rebooted the problem I was having is gone. (the trojan pop up).

Do I still go ahead and complete the rest of your instructions or were they just for troubleshooting so you could determine what the problem was?

Let me know and I will complete your instructions if you think it is still needed.

Thanks for all your help, I really do appreciate it. What you do is out of the kindness of your heart or your love of figuring things out :) But either way you didnt have to help me with anything...so a sincere thanks!

Jessica

Oh another thing.

Do I delete all the programs that I downloaded or do I keep them?

Thanks!

I got another error when clicking on my outlook:

The add-in "C:\program~1\spambl~bin\484~1.o\sbulext.dll" Could not be installed or loaded. This problem may be resolved by using detect and repair on the help menu. Unable to load "C:\progra~11spambl!1\bin\484~1.0\sbolext...". You may be out of memeory, out of system resources, or missing a .dll file.

Then it opened up anyway..please help...did I do something wrong?

Hi

As for those error messages, we'll correct them later.

If superantispyware report is too big, you can upload it eg.
rapidshare (http://www.rapidshare.com) and post back link here, please :)

Reboot.

Please do an online scan with Kaspersky Online Scanner (http://www.kaspersky.com/downloads/kws/kavwebscan.html). You will be prompted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.
The program will launch and then start to download the latest definition files.
Once the scanner is installed and the definitions downloaded, click Next.
Now click on Scan Settings
In the scan settings make sure that the following are selected:

o Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:

+ Extended (If available otherwise Standard)

o Scan Options:

+ Scan Archives
+ Scan Mail Bases

Click OK
Now under select a target to scan select My Computer
The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run. Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
Now click on the Save as Text button
Save the file to your desktop.
Copy and paste that information in your next post.

Note: This scanner will work with Internet Explorer Only!

Note for Internet Explorer 7 users: If at any time you have trouble with the accept button of the license, click on the Zoom tool located at the right bottom of the IE window and set the zoom to 75 %. Once the license accepted, reset to 100%.

Hi

Please download the OTMoveIt2 by OldTimer (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/oldtimer/OTMoveIt2.exe).

Save it to your desktop.
Please double-click OTMoveIt2.exe to run it. (Note: If you are running on Vista, right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator).
Copy the lines in the codebox below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy):

C:\WINNT\Downloaded Program Files\Vzbb.dll.old

Return to OTMoveIt2, right click in the "Paste Standard List of Files/Folders to Move" window (under the light blue bar) and choose Paste.

Click the red Moveit! button.
Copy everything in the Results window (under the green bar) to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy), and paste it in your next reply.
Close OTMoveIt2

Note: If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes. In this case, after the reboot, open Notepad (Start->All Programs->Accessories->Notepad), click File->Open, in the File Name box enter *.log and press the Enter key, navigate to the C:\_OTMoveIt\MovedFiles folder, and open the newest .log file present, and copy/paste the contents of that document back here in your next post.

Any issues left?

Hi,

My computer is working good :) although I still have this error when I open outlook. ( Outlook does work)

Also do I have to go back and delete the that last file we were talking about? And do I remove all the anti spyware programs I have installed on my computer now?

Thanks!
Jessica

Hi

That is due to SpamBlocker Utility is removed.

Download and run this (http://spamblockerutility.com/downloads/Uninst.exe)
tool, please.

And let me know if it helped.

"Also do I have to go back and delete the that last file we were talking about? And do I remove all the anti spyware programs I have installed on my computer now?"

OtMoveIt2 already deleted it :)

I give you later instructions for that.

Hi

Do this and try again after that, please.

Download HostsXpert (http://www.funkytoad.com/download/HostsXpert.zip) and unzip it to your desktop.

Open HostsXpert that you earlier unzipped on your desktop

Click "Make Hosts Writable?" upper left corner (if available)
Click "Restore MS Hosts File" and then click OK
Close HostsXpert
Note; IF you used any custom Hosts (eg. MVPS Hosts), you will have put them back manually

Hi

You don't need winzip for that.

See here (http://www.wikihow.com/Open-a-.Zip-File-Without-Winzip)

Hi!

OK. I did what you said and was able to get into the Hostsexpert. I was not able ot click on Make hosts unavailbale (because it wasnt there)....but I could click on Restore MS host file.

I then went back to your post# 27 and tried to run the application you wanted me to again and I got the same message as before:

Sorry....
