For what it matters, I ran the SpyBot checks in safe mode, came up with a bunch of old existing bits and pieces that weren't a bother as well as Virtumonde. Tried the fix, rescanned and Virtumonde came up again. Tried the fix, rescanned and it came up a final time. Figured it wasn't going anywhere without real help and continued down the steps.

Welcome to Safer Networking, I wish to be sure you have viewed and understand this information.
"BEFORE you POST" (READ this Procedure before Requesting Assistance)
http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=288
All advice given is taken at your own risk.
Please make sure you have read this information so we are on the same page.

You are infected, I suggest you keep this computer offline except when troubleshooting, the junk may download more. If you have any tool I use, delete it and download it new from the link I provide. Read and follow the directions carefully, the tools will not work unless you do.
I am looking at Vundo, downloaders and at least one dialer, if you wish to clean this, do not expect fast or easy.

Remove any old copies of combofix before you proceed.

Tutorial if needed:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix

Thanks to sUBs and anyone else who helped with this fix.

It is important that it is saved directly to your Desktop

Download ComboFix from Here (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe) to your Desktop

Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log and a HiJackthis log in your next reply

Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while its running. That may cause it to stall

Post the combofix log and a new HJT log.

Thanks

Lucienis

And congratulations on 10,000 posts of awesomeness! You must have the patience of a saint ;)
Also, I'm all over the advice RE: stay off the net. Physically removing my LAN connection unless I'm replying here. We'll beat this thing yet!

Thanks for returning your information and the feedback.

You appear to have cut off the combofix log at this point:
"C:\\Program Files\\ParaWorld\\bin\\PWServer.exe"=
and I need to see the complete log. Always use Edit > Select All in notepad to highlite all of the information before you copy/paste it to here. I do not need to see what you posted again, just post the balance of the combofix log from where you cut it off.

Did you install this item and do you know it is safe:
C:\Program Files\PixiePack Codec Pack
See this: http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=7344

I need more information before I proceed, do you know what these are?
C:\Program Files\tmp298406.exe
C:\Program Files\tmp298609.exe
C:\Program Files\tmp66506562.exe
C:\Program Files\tmp66514781.exe
If not use one or more of these free online scans to find out and post the results for me. No need to scan them all, one will do.
http://virusscan.jotti.org/
http://www.kaspersky.com/scanforvirus
http://www.virustotal.com/

http://siri.geekstogo.com/SmitfraudFix.php <<< download Smitfraudfix from here and follow ONLY these directions.

Search:
Double-click SmitfraudFix.exe
Select 1 and hit Enter to create a report of the infected files. The report can be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt

Note: process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool". It is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.
http://www.beyondlogic.org/consulting/processutil/processutil.htm

Post the C:\rapport.txt and the information I reqested above.

Thanks

Lucienis

Sorry about the cut off there, it must have happened when I tried to put in both the ComboFix and HJT logs in the same thread and went to delete the HJT out for space.

Also, the temp files all seem to be trouble in one sort or another. When I checked, there wasn't 4 anymore, there are now 8 of them. Here's what KAV showed me.

tmp298406.exe - infected by Trojan-Dropper.Win32.Agent.ftu
tmp298609.exe - infected by Trojan-Dropper.Win32.Agent.ftu
tmp1759312.exe - infected by Trojan-Downloader.Win32.Small.iuq
tmp1764453.exe - infected by Trojan-Downloader.Win32.Small.iuq
tmp1768218.exe - infected by Trojan-Downloader.Win32.Small.iuq
tmp1782453.exe was clean apparently? Maybe KAV didn't recognize what this one had, or maybe it was an original?
tmp66506562.exe - infected by Trojan-Dropper.Win32.Agent.ftu
tmp66514781.exe - infected by Trojan-Dropper.Win32.Agent.ftu

Thanks for returning your information, looks like we have our work cut out for us.
I apologize if I missed your comments, but I need this information:

Did you install this item and do you know it is safe:
C:\Program Files\PixiePack Codec Pack
See this: http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=7344

Clean:
Reboot your computer in Safe Mode (before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually)
Double-click SmitfraudFix.exe
Select 2 and hit Enter to delete infect files.
You will be prompted: Do you want to clean the registry ? answer Y (yes) and hit Enter in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection.
The tool will now check if wininet.dll is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file (if found): Replace infected file ? answer Y (yes) and hit Enter to restore a clean file.
A reboot may be needed to finish the cleaning process. The report can be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt

Optional:
To restore Trusted and Restricted site zone, select 3 and hit Enter.
You will be prompted: Restore Trusted Zone ? answer Y (yes) and hit Enter to delete trusted zone.
Note, if you use SpywareBlaster and/or IE-SPYAD, it will be necessary to re-install the protection both afford. For SpywareBlaster, run the program and re-protect all items. For IE-SPYAD, run the batch file and reinstall the protection.

Post the C:\rapport.txt and a new HJT log.

Thanks

Lucienis

I do not ever recall downloading that perticular codec package and I think it's more likely part of the problem than the solution. Asides, codecs aren't anything I can't refind once we get the problem fixed again.

Rapport than HJT: Still getting some of the old signs and warnings popping up saying I have malware, but I'm not sure if they're genuine windows half the time anymore -.-
Also, should I have Spybot-SD Resident running while I clear all this up? It's asking me to allow or block certain process and registry changes and I'm not sure what is being caused by your instructions and what is the malware...

Thanks for returning your information, you may want to review this:
http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=7344

1) We need first to disable TeaTimer that it doesn't interfere with fixes. You can re-enable it when you're clean again:
* Run Spybot-S&D in Advanced Mode.
* If it is not already set to do this Go to the Mode menu select "Advanced Mode"
* On the left hand side, Click on Tools
* Then click on the Resident Icon in the List
* Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts.
* Restart your computer.
(leave TT disabled until we finish)

2) How to make files and folders visible:
Click Start > Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm. Click OK.
You may reverse this for safety when we are finished.

3) Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune
http://www.atribune.org/public-beta/ATF-Cleaner.exe
Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.

4) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file)

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {FBD29C3C-C642-4843-A627-6E54A947B511} - (no file)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MSDrive] rundll32.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\drvfas.dll,startup
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MSDisp32] rundll32.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\drvkud.dll,startup
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KernelFaultCheck] %systemroot%\system32\dumprep 0 -k

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

5) Right click Start > Explore and navigate to these files/folders and delete them if there.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\drvfas.dll <<< delete that file

C:\WINDOWS\system32\drvkud.dll <<< delete that file

6) Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Restart and post a new HJT log with some feedback.

Thanks

RE: The Codecs
I don't usually download things other than from the original sources and reputable source. The only reason I'm here now is because I was silly enough to let my roommate try and give me a game he got pirated online (Paraworld, for what it matters... Real Time Strategy + Ninjas + Dinosaurs = win) and he gave me a 'keygen' that was just self extracting malware. I chuckled a bit when I saw Codecs and Keygens were the biggest contributers on there, but I had read it before I did post ;)

1) Disabled Teatimer, will reactivate it once we get this all fixed up.
2) Files made visible.
3) Downloaded.
4) Closed all programs except HJT and Firefox. Fixed all 6, no errors or anything came up so I'm assuming they were all fixed properly.
5) Here's where I ran into problems.
Drvfas.dll didn't exist, but when I tried to delete drvkud.dll I got a "Cannot delete drvkud.dll: Acess is denied" error.
6) Cleared out all the stuff anyways, freed up 53.035 mBs!
7) Ran HJT with log;

Thanks for returning your information and the feedback. You can get an idea of how we feel about pirated software here:
http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=288

Note: We do not support the use of illegal Pirated/Warez/Cracked software.

C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_06\ <<< Java needs an update, see this:
http://forums.spybot.info/showpost.php?p=12880&postcount=2

The HJT log you posted looks clean of malware, how is the computer running. We need to run a last Kaspersky Online Scan, before we remove combofix, please see this information.

I am sure you saw this:
WARNING -THIS MACHINE DOES NOT HAVE THE RECOVERY CONSOLE INSTALLED !!

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix

Review that information to understand Recovery Console. Installation is optional but if you do not have the CD's needed, as is explained, it can be installed before we remove combofix.
If you do not wish to install RC, let me know so I can continue with the cleanup.

If on the other hand, you use Windows XP and do not have the Windows CD, ComboFix includes a method of installing the Windows Recovery console by downloading a file from Microsoft.

Thanks

Lucienis

I know the site's stance on pirated software, and I'm the same way. I buy (what little) software I use or make due without it. I just found it kinda funny that when I moved in with one of my best friends, and he tried to get me to play this game of his and I tried pirated software... KA BOOM ;) in comes the malware.

Also, I have a copy of Norton ghost laying around somewhere. The only really important stuff I have on my computer I've got back ups elsewhere so I'm mostly alright without the recovery console.

finally, just before the KAV log, shouldn't be running these fixes in safemode should I? Because I've got a bunch of the trojan droppers back and I can't come back here to check what I need to do without having the chance for them to download more of themselves?

Here's KAV

Thanks for the feedback, there is active infection, but most of what I see is quarantined or in infected System Restore files. Let's see if we can remove this junk manually like this:

If you chose to install Recovery Console or not, I needed to remove it before Kaspersky was run as I said here:

If you do not wish to install RC, let me know so I can continue with the cleanup.

1) C:\QooBox\Quarantine\ <<< remove combofix and this folder from the computer

2) C:\Documents and Settings\Graham\Desktop\SmitfraudFix\<<< remove Smitfraudfix from the computer

3) Delete all files in red

C:\Program Files\IE Extensions\cj.v2.dll

C:\WINDOWS\Installer\{021aa9b5-f3f9-425e-a25e-d8fca361847e}\zip.dll

C:\WINDOWS\Installer\{3e64a25b-4bed-4689-aab1-f7087aebe649}\zip.dll

C:\WINDOWS\Installer\{78071386-a679-4b9e-ad4b-8172f9d547d2}\zip.dll

C:\WINDOWS\Installer\{c35b0097-9627-4570-ab44-1fff57d3c61c}\DrvWin.dll

C:\WINDOWS\system32\drvkaj.dll

C:\WINDOWS\system32\drvkud.dll

4) Empty the Recycle Bin in the Desktop

5) Restart the computer

6) Clean infected System Restore files like this:
Turn off System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Reboot
Turn ON System Restore,
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
UN-Check *Turn off System Restore*.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Run a new KOS, no need to post the results if they are clean.

I'll post this information for you now so you can benefit from it.

And we're clean!

Scan Statistics
Total number of scanned objects 112465
Number of viruses found 0
Number of infected objects 0
Number of suspicious objects 0
Duration of the scan process 01:07:52

Thank you very much for your help Mr. PSKelly. I'm already going through the extra sites you listed there and trying to make my computer a faster, safer and cleaner machine!

Also, I pray I never have to return under such circumstances again, but if I ever need to, or others in the same situation, than losing this site would be a horrible loss. What you and your coworkers do is an amazing thing! I hope my contribution (what little I can afford) and my words of praise show how grateful I am for all of your help. You guys rock!
