Hello:

I scanned my computer with prevx csi and it came back with three problems. I was able to get rid of two of the problems. I need help getting rid of admggxp.dll and erasing all past restore points. Spybot does not note any problems. I used Regdllview to see if I could get more information on admgxp.dll. It tells me that admgxp.dll is on drive C and is integrated into 77 reg keys. I think I have said that correctly. Below are my HJT and Kaspersky logs. Thank you for your help. Rob

Welcome to Safer Networking, I wish to be sure you have viewed and understand this information.
"BEFORE you POST" (READ this Procedure before Requesting Assistance)
http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=288
All advice given is taken at your own risk.
Please make sure you have read this information so we are on the same page.

Thanks for posting the correct information, you would be surprised how few do.

You are infected, if you have any tool I use, delete it and download it new from the link I provide. Read and follow the directions carefully, the tools will not work unless you do. Here is the trojan:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/startups/admggxp-21896.html
and I have the tool to remove it (SDFix) but since this junk is rarely alone, I need to investivate first.

http://siri.geekstogo.com/SmitfraudFix.php <<< download Smitfraudfix from here and follow ONLY these directions.

Search:
Double-click SmitfraudFix.exe
Select 1 and hit Enter to create a report of the infected files. The report can be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt

Note: process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool". It is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.
http://www.beyondlogic.org/consulting/processutil/processutil.htm

Post only the C:\rapport.txt

Thanks...Phil

Hello:

Thank you for responding. I had already downloaded and run SDfix last night before I read your reply. It found admggxp.dll and deleted it. I have the report if you would like to see it. I downloaded smitfraud fix and I have included the report below. Other things I have done....Yes, I did reset the restore points already as I have been pulling my hair out trying to figure out what is up with this computer. While, I had read all the information on what not to do the stress was just too much and I did not wait for a reply before trying new fixes. I also downloaded combofix and ran a report, this before the sdfix report. It mentioned admggxp.dll as well as vcclsid.exe. Vcclsid.exe is still in the computer. I will follow your instructions from now on.

Thanks for the feedback and it is your computer but I need to point out this information:
http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=16806

Until a helper responds, the HJT log has not been analyzed. Please wait to be advised and don't run fixes until asked. This is especially important if your Operating System is Windows Vista!Often clues to the removal of the infection get removed before we even see them, making it much more difficult and time consuming on both you and your helper.

You may remove (delete) Smitfraudfix from your computer. Post the report from SDFix if you still have it, a new HJT log and tell me of any malware symptoms.

Thanks

Thanks, I would appreciate it if you would turn "Word Wrap" off in notepad so the logs don't stretch all over as in this case.

Is this your Internet Service Provider: http://whois.domaintools.com/80.58.61.250

Your HJT log looks good:bigthumb: you should remove SDFix (does not update) from your computer.

Some good information for you:

Hello:

I seem to have lost a post between here and there. I seem to be having a big problem logging on and replying to the post, but I am here now.

Those links are great. I wish I had found them sooner. It always takes me a long time to find good information. Thank you.

Yes, that is my correct ISP.

SDFix is gone.

Word Wrap is changed.

I am glad the HJT log looks good, but I have some questions about things that did not show up on the HJT log.

The original combofix log showed admggxp.dll. I installed RegDllView to take a look at the dll´s and it showed admggxp.dll as well and associated it with 77 Class IDs. After the SDFix RegDllView shows admggxp.dll in the missing file column, but still shows the 77 Class IDs that were/are associated with the dll. Is this association in the class ids going to cause a problem? Can I just unregister admggxp.dll and its association with those 77 files? RegDllView allows me to do this.

I also noticed vcclsid on the combofix report and it has been mentioned in other malware strings. Is this malware? Should I get rid of it? I thought I saw a vcclsid fix in the sdfix file.

Awaiting your reply.

Thanks,

pskelley

To your questions, often when malware is removed, leftovers are in the registry and they are benign as the executable has been removed. Some tools remove some registry entries and some do not. I suggest you use a good registry cleaner like the one you are using or another is:
http://www.hoverdesk.net/freeware.htm
You may remove the items associated with the infection but I caution you to never remove anything from your registry without making a BACKUP first.

http://www.winxptutor.com/regback.htm

http://www.spywaredata.com/spyware/malware/vcclsid.exe.php
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/lofiversion/index.php/t134128.html

This and the ones around it ARE legitimate files. They belong to the SmitFraudFix tool

Hope that information helps.

Hi:

So everything is OK for now. I will review all of the links you sent. Thank you for your help. I guess we can close this thread.
