Hi all,

I am looking at a friends PC which is running Vista Home as he has been getting alot of strange problems with Vista like a box poping up when you run IE saying that the PC is infected with a Trojon.

1, I have ran SpyBot S&D and it did find and said it fixed the following virus

Win32 Agent GVU

2, I have try to run a Kasersky Virus Scan but IE will not let me into the web

3, I have run a HiJackThis and here is the log below

Welcome to Safer Networking, I wish to be sure you have viewed and understand this information.

All advice given is taken at your own risk.
Please make sure you have read this information so we are on the same page.

To be truthful, many of the tools we use will not run on Vista and I am still learning how to clean this Operating System. I can make no promises because of this other than I am willing to do my best to help. If that works for you and you still need the help, start like this.

1) c:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0\ <<< Java is out of date, see this:

2) Enable hidden files&folders..reverse the process when finished.

3) Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune
http://www.atribune.org/public-beta/ATF-Cleaner.exe
Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.

4) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch =
O2 - BHO: Windows Media Player - {61FEBF12-793B-4D8A-8513-D1814FE2A395} - C:\Windows\wmpdxm.dll

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

5) Right click Start > Explore and navigate to these files/folders and delete them if there.

(Delete the files in red)

C:\Downloads\GettysburgSetup-dm[1].exe
C:\Downloads\PraetoriansSetup-dm[1].exe
C:\Downloads\PraetoriansSetup-dm[2].exe
C:\Windows\wmpdxm.dll

Notes for Windows Vista users:
On Windows Vista that "Windows Temp" is disabled, to empty "Windows Temp" ATF-Cleaner must be "Run as an Administrator"
Prefetch has been disabled on Windows Vista. As I'm not sure the effects that emptying prefetch on Windows Vista will have for the time being it I won't enable that function.
6) Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.
