View Full Version : Qoologic.AZ, Malware, IE Popups [HJT - Log]

Hello all.
I recently installed the beta of Windows OneCare firewall/virus detector and now I keep getting the message that I'm infected with the Qoologic.AZ (TrojanDownloader:Win32/Qoologic.AZ) virus. I ran Ad-Aware in safe mode and also Stinger and it supposedly quarantined all of the bad files, but whenever I rebooted into normal mode, my OneCare is showing that I still have the Qoologic.AZ virus. I'm extremely baffled now as to what to do? I use FireFox so I haven't been having many problems, but whenever I open up IE, I start recieving tons of popups. Also, I noticed that somehow my P2P program Shareaza is opening on it's own. Could someone please point me in the right direction on how to fix this problem? I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

I wanted to mention (as I can't seem to find a way to edit my post), I have ran Spybot-S&D three times and now, the only thing that is left is the Command Service (I have a log file created if it would be helpful, I will add it below). Also, I have the beta of Windows OneCare installed which has it's own firewall and virus detection, it is continuing to show that Qoologic.AZ is on the computer. I am so absolutely baffled at this point on what to do next. (Note - I ran Spybot-S&D on safe mode also). Thanks.

Not sure if this info is helpful or not, but my P2P program (Shareaza) keeps opening on it's own. I can close it and it starts up on it's own again.

Hi

Where did this program come from "topthemesxp" ?

Download FindQoologic.zip save it to your Desktop.
http://downloads.subratam.org/Find-Qoologic.zip
Extract (unzip) the files inside Preferably here C:\
Open the FindQoologic folder.
Locate and double-click the Find-Qoologic.bat file to run it.
wait until a text opens, post it in a reply to your thread.

If I'm not mistaken, topthemesxp was a program I had installed a while back for using Windows XP themes.

Note - I have noticed that my OneCare Live program provided by Microsoft has not been popping up any virus notifications.

My MS OneCare anti-virus keeps telling me that a virus is trying to open (After doing the SFP program). Is that why?

hicarbon
2006-02-22, 04:57
Now I am getting the TrojanDownloader:Win32/Qoologic.AZ virus popup from OneCare Live again (It stopped up until doing the SFP)

hicarbon
2006-02-22, 05:31
I ran BruteForceUninstaller again and then rebooted, checked HijackThis again to make sure the listed entries you gave me weren't there (They weren't) and now I'm no longer getting the Qoologic.AZ popup from my OneCare anti-virus!

Hi

Not to worry, qoologic is a minor pest.

Download Pocket Killbox
http://www.downloads.subratam.org/KillBox.exe
Start Killbox place a tick next to [x]replace on reboot and use dummy.
Copy this whole list into the windows clipboard, all the Bolded below.

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\YKOIAI.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\QVYAU.DAT
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\GLKEM.DLL
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\QAUOPOQ.DLL
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\KCBSVSK.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\QVYAU.DAT
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\YKOIAI.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\BPWOCO.DAT
C:\DOCUME~1\ALLUSE~1\STARTM~1\PROGRAMS\STARTUP\PIQH.EXE

Back in Killbox go > file > paste from clipboard, Click the all files button >
Click the red highlighted X button and say yes to the prompt to restart the pc.

After the pc has completly restarted

Launch Notepad (not wordpad), and copy and paste the Bolded below into a new text file.
Save it as file name: "fixme.reg" (not including the quotes). Save as file type: All files (*.*) and save it on your Desktop.

REGEDIT4

[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\gqknyngn]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
"winsync"=-

Now double-click on the fixme.reg file you saved and click on the Yes button when it asks if you would like to merge the information. Once you get a successful message delete fixme.reg.

Post back with a fresh hiojackthis log please

I got the error message "Cannot import C:Documents:Error opening the file. There may be a disk or file system error" when I double clicked the fixme.reg file.

This is a log of Hijackthis that I ran just in case.

Hi
O4 - Global Startup: PIQH.EXE

Its back, use the pc for a few hours then repeart the same steps using the same list of files with Killbox (remember its delete on reboot all the files at once)

Is this file where it should be C:\windows\regedit.exe ?

"If I'm not mistaken, topthemesxp was a program I had installed a while back for using Windows XP themes."
I ment where did you get it ? if from a filesharring program i suggest it be uninstalled asap

Same problem as before with the fixme.reg file.

On reboot after using Killbus, I got two command prompts that opened, one was for PIQH.EXE and another was for an NT something or other. They opened, closed and then that was that. I just checked and regedit.exe is in the correct directory. (Start>Run>regedit now works for me where as before, it wouldn't open the registry editor)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [winsync] C:\WINDOWS\system32\ykoiai.exe reg_run
O4 - Global Startup: PIQH.EXE
-----------------------------

Then restart the pc, let us know if either of those two return or if they dont after a few hours please

Neither of them are listed anymore, however I am still getting a popup from my OneCare Live anti-virus about a file named A0032628.dll in C:\System Volume Information\_restore{202550A8-...\ I believe there is more to the location however the window doesn't expand to show it. It is from the Virus: TrojanDownloader:Win32/Qoologic.AZ .......Is this a problem or just something I can ignore?

Hi

Not to worry about items in system restore (C:\System Volume Information)

If the pc is ok after a week or so disable reboot then re-enable system restore

Purge System Restore
Turn off System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.
Then Reboot. < Dont skip that step.
Turn ON System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
UN-Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Post back in a couple days and let us know of any problems

Im Glad we could help
Since the problems are solved Im going to close the topic now, this keeps others with similar problems from posting there logs/question here, they should start a new topic.
If you should need to post another log for the same PC let Me or Tashi know.
