View Full Version : Hijackthis log - not sure if I have a prob? JAL
Could someone please review my Hijackthis log? I was receiving some pops and a Trojan message which I sort of missed. Here is what I have tried so far – I run Lavasoft AD-AWARE and Spybot (also done in Safe Mode). I used CCLEANER to get rid of TEMP files and ran the AVAST virus scan. I ran was A-Squared, I have also done an online scan with BitDefender – all of them seem to find a few problems and cleans them?
SPYBOT’s TeaTimer seemed to have a problem with “BMc36b9d3a”??? It asked for access and I replied Deny. TeaTimer boxes come showing what has been Allowed or Denied but when it come to the box for “BMc36b9d3a” its just flashes for the longest time. I have Google’d “BMc36b9d3a” but found nothing – it is in my Hijackthis log.
After a few more AD-aware and Spybot I now get RUNDLL message came up: Error loading c:\windows\system32\ygxrivip.dll. The specified module could not be found. Teatimer issues seem to have gone away.
System info:
Dell Inspiron 6400 1.66 GHz with 99 GB Ram running Windows Media Center edition (SP2) with Antivirus program AVAST and ZoneAlarm Firewall. All are UP TO DATE.

All advice given is taken at your own risk.
Please make sure you have read this information so we are on the same page.
You are infected, I suggest you keep this computer offline except when troubleshooting, the junk may download more. If you have any tool I use, delete it and download it new from the link I provide. Read and follow the directions carefully, the tools will not work unless you do. This can be a tough infection to remove so do not expect fast or easy.
a-squared Anti-Malware is a good program for some malware but not this one. Unless you own this program, I would uninstall it.
1) We need first to disable TeaTimer that it doesn't interfere with fixes. You can re-enable it when you're clean again:
* Run Spybot-S&D in Advanced Mode.
* If it is not already set to do this Go to the Mode menu select "Advanced Mode"
* On the left hand side, Click on Tools
* Then click on the Resident Icon in the List
* Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts.
* Restart your computer.
(leave TT disabled until we finish)

Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
When VundoFix opens, click the Scan for Vundo button.
Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove.
In this case, VundoFix will attempt run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click
the Scan for Vundo button." when VundoFix appears at reboot. Vundofix.txt will be on the C:\
(wait until you finish to post reports and logs)

Download ComboFix from Here (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe) to your Desktop
Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log and a HiJackthis log in your next reply
Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while its running. That may cause it to stall
Post the Vundofix.txt, combofix log and a new HJT log.

1) How to make files and folders visible:
Click Start > Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm. Click OK.
You may reverse this for safety when we are finished.
2) Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune
http://www.atribune.org/public-beta/ATF-Cleaner.exe
Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.
3) Open Vundofix by Doubleclicking on it, then point your mouse to the white box above
the buttons and right click, then click on Add More Files. When the next window opens, copy and paste the files into the boxes and click on Add File(s), then click on Close Window. Then click Remove Vundo (or fix vundo)

5) Right click Start > Explore and navigate to these files/folders and delete them if there.

6) Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.
Restart and post the Vundofix report, a new HJT log and some feedback from you.

Thanks for the quick response Phil...
My Folder options are always set to un-hide, but I did verify it and they were.
I did not run Vundofix as those 4 files were not found in SYSTEM32 folder – even did a search and they were not found.
I ran Hijackthis and checked those 4 selections. Also checked and ygxrivip.dll was not found via Windows Explorer.
Ran AFT Cleaner.

After the REBOOT laptop seems find.... not error messages popped up or anything. But I did notice that on the Hijackthis log those 4 items you had me selected and remove are back again??? Should I do it again but in Safe Mode???

Thanks for returning your information and the feedback. Check the settings for enabling files and folder, one thing wrong and you will not see this file as the hackers hide them. They also can morph and return. TeaTimer is likely responsible for the 016 lines staying in the HJT log. Proceed like this.
1) Make sure you can see all files and folders

2) Make sure Tea Timer is disabled.
Once you've had it disabled to remove HijackThis entries:
Download ResetTeaTimer.bat.

Double click ResetTeaTimer.bat
to remove all entries set by TeaTimer (and preventing TeaTimer to restore them upon reactivation).
3) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"
Right click Start > Explore and navigate to these files/folders and delete them if there.
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ygxrivip.dll <<< that file must be gone, it was not removed the last time. You can delete it in safe mode if you wish, you can also use Search Companion to find out where it is. As long as you get rid of it.
Restart and post a new HJT log with your feedback.

I double checked my folder settings and there was one that was not checked – the most important one: Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files sorry for not checking closer.
I reran Vundofix and added the last four files - the .INI ones. The Ygzrivip.dll is still not there.
Checked Hijackthis and those last 4 items didn't reappear.
Started Spybot and Teatimer is still unchecked.
Ran the TeaTimer bat file. It finished with no errors.
Ran hijackthis and the 04 and 016 items that you list are not showing up.
Started EXPLORER and there noygxrivip.dll file.

Thanks John, for returning your HJT log and it is clean:bigthumb: We still need to clean infected System Restore files. Before we remove combofix and the other tools we used, please read this information.
I am sure you saw this:
WARNING -THIS MACHINE DOES NOT HAVE THE RECOVERY CONSOLE INSTALLED !!

Review that information to understand Recovery Console. Installation is optional but if you do not have the CD's needed, as is explained, it can be installed before we remove combofix. If you do not wish to install RC, let me know so I can continue with the cleanup.

I have the CD so I followed those instructions and installed the Recovery Console. Let go with the clean up.... it sounds like there is light at the end of the tunnel.

You may keep ATF-Cleaner if you wish but delete all other tools we downloaded for the cleanup. Make sure to delete the C:\VundoFix Backups and the C:\qoobox\quarantine\ folders
Run a new Kaspersky Online Scan using these settings:
* The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
* Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
* Now click on Scan Settings
* In the scan settings make that the following are selected:
* Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
* Standard
* Scan Options:
* Scan Archives
* Scan Mail Bases
* Click OK
* Now under select a target to scan:
* Select My Computer
* This will program will start and scan your system.
* The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
* Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
* Now click on the Save as Text button:
* Save the file to your desktop.
Then post it here.
