How many items are in HeavyDuty.sbi probably depends on what version of Spybot S&D you are using, and what updates have been downloaded, and you didn't provide these details-however HeavyDuty.sbi is one of the Ignore Products files, and for whatever items are in it to be ignored you have to tick them, assuming you had a valid reason to want to ignore them in the first place.

What makes you think 17,000 odd files are not being checked?

In the Settings section of Spybot 1.5.2.20 it states all the File Sets. Under the heading HeavyDuty.sbi it states there are 17254 'Checks'. Have I asumed incorectly that there are that many checks?
When I run SB it skips about 17k files and takes about 30 minutes to complete SB check. Should I post a file analysis to assist?
I update (check) almist daily and run beta files.

Neil,

In advanced mode, under Settings, are you then looking in Ignore Products. If you are, and you click on the HeavyDuty.sbi tab you should see two items, "Please wait scanning download directories" and "Vario Antivirus", and by default their boxes are not ticked. Nowhere here am I seeing anything about 17254 checks. Could you be more precise with exactly where you are seeing this, and also say what operating system you are using.

OK, sorry, I see where you are now, and I can't give you an answer. I assume that unticking the HeavyDuty.sbi box in the Files sets screen would remove that entire fileset from the scan, where as the boxes next to the individual items in the HeavyDuty.sbi tab under Ignore products would enable you to exclude an individual item. Perhaps someone else can be more help

I have just realised that some of the data I understand the rest is most interesting and displays all to all. Anyway I do seek some advice if there is an issue and would be most grateful for any assistance/advice from an expert!

unrealneil:

Yes there are 17254 'Checks' in the HeavyDuty.sbi file as of the 2008-03-12 updates.

I don't know what you expected to be done with the HijackThis log, but they are not interpreted in this forum. See:
Please do NOT post hjt logs in the Spybot forum, see here for link to malware removal (http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=1266)

I recall that PepiMK indicated that the total number of items being scanned does "skip" for some technical reason.

I think it was padded for some reason and this means that the actual number is really something less, but I may just be remembering the reason badly. I do recall others asking about this in the past though and it wasn't really a problem, just a visual glitch.

Hello, can someone explain to me what would be the consequences of checking the "Please wait scanning download directories" check box? This does not look like a "Product" name to me.

Thanks in advance,

Hello,

At the end of the scans no real products are scanned like before. At the end of the scan Spybot scans the download directories, the bookmarks and other stuff.

Best regards
