Hi there..

You are infected, I suggest you keep this computer offline except when troubleshooting, the junk may download more. If you have any tool I use, delete it and download it new from the link I provide. Read and follow the directions carefully, the tools will not work unless you do.
This can be a tough infection to remove so do not expect fast or easy. You have other issues also.

Though the Trojan has been identified and can be killed, because of it's backdoor functionality, your PC is very likely compromised and there is no way to be sure your computer can ever again be trusted.

If you wish to clean the computer knowing this, follow these instructions in the posted order.

1) You are running two antivirus programs at the same time and this is not a good thing. They conflict with each other and you will be less safe than if you ran one good program and maintained it properly.

2) We need first to disable TeaTimer that it doesn't interfere with fixes. You can re-enable it when you're clean again:
* Run Spybot-S&D in Advanced Mode.
* If it is not already set to do this Go to the Mode menu select "Advanced Mode"
* On the left hand side, Click on Tools
* Then click on the Resident Icon in the List
* Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts.
* Restart your computer.
(leave TT disabled until we finish)

3) AVG Anti-Spyware
Open AVG Anti-Spyware by double-clicking the multi-colored box emblazoned with an 'S' in the system tray.
In the 'Resident Shield' section, toggle the AVG Anti-Spyware active protection 'off' by clicking 'Change state' which will then change the protection status to 'inactive'.
If you are instructed to reboot at any time during your cleanup, AVG Anti-Spyware will prompt you as to whether you would like to "Restart the Resident Shield".
Reply 'no' and set it to 'inactive' for the duration of your cleanup.

Download SDFix and save it to your Desktop

Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%
(Drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix)

Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
Restart your computer
After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
Instead of Windows loading as normal, the Advanced Options Menu should appear;
Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press Enter.
Choose your usual account.
Open the extracted SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
When the PC restarts the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt
(Report.txt will also be copied to Clipboard ready for posting back on the forum).
Finally post the contents of the Report.txt back on the forum with a new HijackThis log

(wait until you finish to post reports and logs)

Thank you so much for your help!
I've done everything as listed - I uninstalled Avast, kept Symantec. My husband had run Vundofix earlier, not realizing that I had asked for help here. I re-ran it after SDFix, and it came back clean - so no report to post. The files it backed up the first time, though were: hvolotru.ini, omlabwcw.dll, urtolovh.dll and wcebalmo.ini

Indeed it does, let's proceed like this:

1) C:\Program Files\Grisoft\AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5\guard.exe
I posted instructions for this to be turned off, the guard function will block the changes we must make. Be sure TeaTimer is disabled still.

AVG Anti-Spyware: Deactivate the Resident Shield
- Before proceeding, deactivate the "Resident Shield" as this may prevent changes to the registry.
- To do this, click "Change State" to the right of the Resident Shield option in the main window.
- You will clearly see the status change to Inactive if you have done this correctly.

2) How to make files and folders visible:
Click Start > Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm. Click OK.
You may reverse this for safety when we are finished.

3) Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune
http://www.atribune.org/public-beta/ATF-Cleaner.exe
Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.

4) Open a new notepad window
Paste the list of files from the quote box below into the notepad window.

Drag vundofix.vft onto the listbox (white box) of VundoFix.
Click the "Fix Vundo" button.
You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove.
In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions
starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button" when VundoFix appears upon rebooting.

5) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

6) Right click Start > Explore and navigate to these files/folders and delete them if there.

(make sure these files are gone from the System32 folder)

Thank you again so much...

okay... I've done everything as described - I DID turn off the resident guard last time - I double checked again, and it's showing as inactive. Did the Vundofix - gebxxuv.dll and ssqrp.dll cannot be removed - says they are being used by another program. I closed everything, even tried remiving them in safe mode - no dice. Ran ATF cleaner.

I am concerned that the AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5\guard.exe is blocking the removal, and it does appear in running processes. Do you own this program? If it is just a trial, how about uninstalling it. Then do this:

1) C:\Program Files\ComPlus Applications\promymyfs.html <<< use this free online scan to scan the file in red and post the results:

3) Make sure you can see all files and folder.

4) Open Vundofix by Doubleclicking on it, then point your mouse to the white box above the buttons and right click, then click on Add More Files. When the "Select Files" Window opens copy and paste the file/s one at a time in the "File Name:" box and click Open to add them. When then are all added right click the Windows and choose "Select All" then "Fix Vundo".

Restart and post the Vundofix report, a new HJT log and your feedback.

Did you look in the folder I highlite.
C:\Program Files\ComPlus Applications\promymyfs.html

Run a new KOS scan using these settings so I can see if anything is hiding from us, expect some because we still need to clean infected System Restore files.
* The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
* Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
* Now click on Scan Settings
* In the scan settings make that the following are selected:
* Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
* Standard
* Scan Options:
* Scan Archives
* Scan Mail Bases
* Click OK
* Now under select a target to scan:
* Select My Computer
* This will program will start and scan your system.
* The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
* Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
* Now click on the Save as Text button:
* Save the file to your desktop.

Then post it here.
