A neighbour told me he has a problem with his PC.
So I went over and lo and behold he has the most badly kept PC ever as in files are strewn all over the desktop, applications are randomly installed, bitorrent is used you get the idea - the problem is when their little daughter is online no one is their to supervise, as they run a chinese take away underneath, so it seems she has downloaded some virus or/and spyware.
I build my own PC's but have never had these spyware and virus problems.
Heres what has happened:
Three files have been installed which were not htere previously:
1) Error Cleaner
2) Privacy Protector
3) Spyware Protection
Also there are 2 installation files both called something like install_sbd_en. One has a logo of a builder yellow hard hat.
He gets multiple things which tell him there is stuff on his PC which needs removing - evidently the messages are all fake. Such as Windows Security Alert - Something something etc ... Click here to download Spyware etc. And a falshing red cross saying the PC is infected, and a very genuine looking Spyware Alert - Security Warning! Worm.Win32.NetSky deteted on your machine. This virus is distributed via etc etc.
Also he no longer has access to the net.... its Tiscali but it doesnt work???
Now I dont have a clue about how to get rid of this however I have read posts from people with the same problem. Howvever appraently everyones is unique so I have to post stuff here? I have downloaded in advance:
1) HiJackThis
2) ComboFix
3) SmitfraudFix
Is there anything else I will need? Is there anything I shouldnt be using there?
Where do I begin to help him? I suspect there may be other rubbish on there he doesnt know of - I cleared his Temp folder but thats it; I am not doing anything without proffesional help.
Can someone please help me help him?
Sorry I only quickly browsed the read this sticky. Ok here is the HiJack log (I had to take the application on a memory stick as he does not have access to the net any more..... so I cannt do the Kapersy or whatever one as he does not have the net functioning). Also note that he is your typical average consumer who belived all the messages and clicked on mos of them 'OK' :( lol if onyl there was a spyware education in ICT in school like they have to teach Sex Education lol.

And PPS: He has got Spybot Search and Destroy and has Service Pack 2.
Also I have THOROUGHLY read the sticky "BEFORE you POST" (READ this Procedure before Requesting Assistance).
I have advised him NOT to connect the USB wire (which is connected to the Sagem modem) to his PC until I fix his PC as this may download more rubbish. Whether or not he heeds this information is unknown ot me - most likely his young daughter may or may not attempt to connect to the net.
Thanks in advance :D

And PPS: He has got Spybot Search and Destroy and has Service Pack 2.
Also I have THOROUGHLY read the sticky "BEFORE you POST" (READ this Procedure before Requesting Assistance).
I have advised him NOT to connect the USB wire (which is connected to the Sagem modem) to his PC until I fix his PC as this may download more rubbish. Whether or not he heeds this information is unknown ot me - most likely his young daughter may or may not attempt to connect to the net.
Thanks in advance :D
