i see some goodies in nortons \Quarantine folder and some adware also.

you can empty the quarantine folder. the adware isnt traditional malware, just delivers ads to your desktop.
weatherbug free version is ad supported.

what do you need help with?

I think the Norton, is part of ATT Yahoo, which I can not acsess at all. Tryed to uninstall, and could't. I had Trend Micro internet security, but I can't acsess it, or reload it with the cd. A freind came over to fix my problems, and left me with this. I have been trying on my own ever since. I do not know what I am doing, and just found out I could ask on hear.

you dont see a icon by the clock for norton? click on the icon to launch the software and poke around.
you could probably empty the quarantine folder from there.

Do you want to uninstall norton? you looked in the add/remove programs panel? may be listed as: Symantec or Norton. or under Yahoo-there are alternatives that are free. if you want we can get it uninstalled and install another.

start hjt, click on "open misc tools section"
then "open uninstall manager"
then on "save list"
post the list in next reply.

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop:

you did it right, no problem. you might click on this in the add/remove programs panel:

Yahoo! Install Manager.

see if norton is listed in there. if not try running that norton uninstaller.

antimalwarebytes came up clean. when you ran antimalwarebytes did you see a option to have it scan your D: drive? the online scan shows some goodies in your D; partiton. iam thinking thats your recover partiton. if you double click the my computer icon on the desktop do you see a D: drive listed?

Yes it has a D; drive. It says not to fool with it, so I didn't.

I am confused, some scans say I am infected, some say I am not?


the first online scan you did showed some files in:
Norton AntiVirus\Quarantine
anything in quarantine is safe and cant harm your computer.

the other items are kind of in the gray zone.
there are adware, not malware and may or may not be flagged by different scanners. they are ad supported
they are:
WeatherBug
PeoplePC

and this is
C:\Program Files\2Wire\sst\VNC\ is legit software

the first two also appear here;
D:\I386\APPS\APP01444\src\HPPavillion
which makes me think they were installed when you got the computer, as this looks like your system restore partition.

the only thing i see in the first online scan is this
C:\WINDOWS\fmsxwqs.exe

and it dosnt appear in the 2nd online scan. you could navigate to the C:\WINDOWS folder and see if you can find and delete it.

the malwarebytes scan look ok as well as the ESET online scan
I say you are good to go.
