Hi Everyone;

I d like to have information about this:

SpyBot Search & Destroy 1.4

My Spybot Resident (Tea Timer) is programmed not to allow the Internet Browser Start page to be changed, not even by me !

So, i cant change the Start Page on my Internet Browser,
the SpyBot Resident wont allow it,
even if i deactivate it (the Resident), when re-activating it, it unallows it and replaces it back,

This is not to replace the Start Page i had before a malware or something changed it, that is NOT the case, i want to change the start page I DID put there myself... yu kno !!

If someone knows about this and can tell me how to change my internet browser start page, and to make SpyBot accept it, please xplain it here or write an email to me,

Thanks very much !

What version of TeaTimer are you running?

What is the message that you are getting?

Are you getting dialog message that must be answered?

Spybot - Search & Destroy

Spybot - Search & Destroy has detected an important registry entry that has been changed.

Category:
Change:
Entry:
Old data:
New data:
Or a just a notification message in the lower right hand corner of the screen that indicates that the change has been denied because of your black list?

Hi !

Thanks for asking,

Im using the SpyBot Search & Destroy 1.4,
and the Resident (Tea Timer) thats in it,

When i change the Windows Internet Browser Start Page,
I get the Lower Right card saying " The Registery change has been denied ", according to my " list ", which i cant find...

Even with the SpyBot / Tools / Browser Pages, Change button, it wont allow it !!

Thank you for trying to help !
Im very satisfied with SpyBot, coz it protects everything,
but it would be nice if i could change my start page !!

JnYves:

If you checked "Remember this decision" on a change the information concerning that change it is stored in a file. TeaTimer uses that information to automatically "Allow" or "Deny" changes. To edit this information:Right click on the TeaTimer system tray icon and select Settings. This will bring up TeaTimer's "White & Black List". There are four (4) Buttons across the top of the "White & Black List":

Allowed processes
Blocked processes
Allowed registry changes
Blocked registry changes

Note: If you don't see all four buttons, try expanding the window to the right.

You can review all the entries that you have stored by clicking on these buttons. The entries that you should review are in "Blocked registry changes". Look for the entry dealing with your browser Start Page and delete the entry. You can delete entries by clicking on the scripted black "X" to the right of the entry that you want to delete and then clicking the "OK" button when you're done. This will in effect make TeaTimer forget what you told it to remember so that during future changes to these items TeaTimer will issue a pop-up dialog rather then just a notification pop-up.
After you have done the above, change your home page (start page). When TeaTimer issues the dialog message for the change, do an "Allow change" and do not use "Remember this decision".

Note: Since you are using TeaTimer 1.4, I suggest that just prior to shutting down or restarting your system that you exit TeaTimer to ensure that TeaTimer's snapshot files for the home page change are stored.

Hi,

Seams i can post again !!

Thx for yur response,

I did find what yu said but,
How do i do an "allow change" ?

After cleaning the unallowed registery list,
when i change the page, SpyBot opens a small card,
i can click or not the "remember this decision" option,
but the other option is half covered with background color,
if i click on it (second option) the "remember this decision" option is checked on...

Thank you,

JnYves.

How do i do an "allow change" ?
Hit the "A" key.

__________

Spybot - Search & Destroy 1.4 is an old version of Spybot (Spybot 1.5.2 is the latest). I suggest that you upgrade. Although there are other ways to overcome your problem that is the best option.

There was a bug in TeaTimer 1.4. Portions of TeaTimer's popup dialog overlay the "Allow change" and "Deny change" buttons. On my system the very top edges of the "Allow change" button (on the left) and "Deny change" button (on the right) were showing so I was still able to select the options. I was also able to check "Remember this decision" since it was visible. If no portion of the "Allow change" and "Deny change" buttons are showing, you can answer TeaTimer's popup dialog (English language version) by pressing "A" on your keyboard for "Allow change" or "D" for "Deny change". Note: If you close the dialog without answering "Allow change" or "Deny change" the registry change is denied.

If you can't deal with the problem that way, you can:
Download and install Spybot 1.5.2.
The downloads can be found here:
Mirror selection - The home of Spybot-S&D!
http://www.spybot.info/en/mirrors/index.html

Apply one of the workarounds found in the following thread that fixes the pop-up dialog so the buttons are visible:
Solution to fix the pop-ups in TeaTimer
http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=122

There are three (3) fixes published in that thread. They are:

The ResHacker fix published by ElPiedra (http://forums.spybot.info/member.php?u=128) here:
http://forums.spybot.info/showpost.php?p=423&postcount=1
The murdo (http://forums.spybot.info/member.php?u=440) patch published here:
http://forums.spybot.info/showpost.php?p=775&postcount=9
Also republished by RuggeR29 (http://forums.spybot.info/member.php?u=7292) (which I have never tried) here:
http://www.fureyonline.com/downloads/patch.zip
The patch originally by SyreneD (http://forums.spybot.info/member.php?u=1735) that I published here:

Also republished by SyreneD (http://forums.spybot.info/member.php?u=1735) himself here:
http://forums.spybot.info/showpost.php?p=23575&postcount=125

Disable TeaTimer as follows:
Go into Spybot > Mode > Advanced Mode > Tools > Resident.
Uncheck the following:Resident "TeaTimer" (Protection of over-all system settings) Active.

********************

Notes about the patches (b. and c. above):
If you installed Spybot in the default location:
C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy
The following patch (c.) defaults to that location:
The patch originally by SyreneD (http://forums.spybot.info/member.php?u=1735) that I published here:
http://forums.spybot.info/showpost.php?p=2670&postcount=38
Also republished by SyreneD (http://forums.spybot.info/member.php?u=1735) himself here:
http://forums.spybot.info/showpost.php?p=23575&postcount=125
If you use the following patch (b.) you have to navigate to the correct location (See Note #1) unless you execute the patch from within the "C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy" folder:
The murdo (http://forums.spybot.info/member.php?u=440) patch published here:
http://forums.spybot.info/showpost.php?p=775&postcount=9
Also republished by RuggeR29 (http://forums.spybot.info/member.php?u=7292) (which I have never tried) here:
http://www.fureyonline.com/downloads/patch.zip

Note# 1: To the right of the Target File (TeaTimer.exe) there is a button that looks like "[ . . . ]". Click on that button, navigate to the correct folder, click "Open" and then "Start".
