Hello,

Booted up in safe mode, ran SpyBot, took whole day to run! Found infections, cured all. Ran again, nothing found.

Rebooted in normal mode, ran Kaspersky, found infections :sick:

Hi dodulo

Please download and install CCleaner Slim (http://www.ccleaner.com/download/builds/downloading-slim).
Once installed, double click on the desktop shortcut created.
On the leftmost column, click on Tools.
On the middle column, click on Uninstall.
At the bottom right hand corner, click on the Save to text file... button.
By default, it saves this file to C:\Program Files\CCleaner named install.txt. You may want to save it to your desktop to find it easily. Click Save.
Close CCleaner.

Note: Doing this will not uninstall any programs. It will only produce a log of installed programs on your computer.

Create own folder for HijackThis to desktop and move it into that folder.

After that:

Open HijackThis, click do a system scan only and checkmark these:

Close all windows including browser and press fix checked.

Reboot.

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune (http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=1) and save
it to desktop.

Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.

If you use Firefox browser

Click Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.

If you use Opera browser

Click Opera at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.

Click Exit to close ATF-Cleaner.

Delete this:

Hello,

A few questions, if I may:

1) Scanners, such as Kaspersky and SpyBot, are taking for ever to run on this computer. Kaspersky just took 5 hours exactly! I've never encountered this before. Why are scanners taing so long here?

2) This is one of my friend's office computers. Her 13 yr. old daughter runs around whild doing "stuff" online, installing games, and now using BearShare. Is this BearShare thing OK to use? Anything else that you see here?

3) Can you tell what caused this computer to get infected, and what exactly was it infected with/by?

Hi

1) Impossible to say but eg. disk fragmentation may cause it or amount of files to scanned.

2) No, BearShare is not ok to use. You get easily infected from p2p downloads and they in most cases even illegal. I recommend that she stops using it.

3) One infection source was BearShare and another bad downloads from web.

Please download the OTMoveIt2 by OldTimer (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/oldtimer/OTMoveIt2.exe).

Save it to your desktop.
Please double-click OTMoveIt2.exe to run it. (Note: If you are running on Vista, right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator).

Thank you for the explanations. Two new questions:

1) Should I run Disk Defragmentor right now, or wait untill we are done?
2) Can you give any more information on these "bad web downloads"? What exactly was she downloading? (I am asking so that I can attempt to prevent this in the future.)

F-Secure AV was not permitting me to download OTMoveit, I had to turn off Real-time Protection.

Hello,

Ran Kaspersky online, found some stuff in restore. Turned off sys restore, rebooted, ran Kaspersy again. All clean!

Ran SpyBot, found a few minor things, all cleaned. Ran again, all clean!
