So, the story is: I've accidentally opened 3 .exe programs randomly installed in my computer (Windows XP) yesterday. They dissapeared right after I opened them. I knew it was a bad sign...
Then:true to the word, the virus infected my system right away and after a minute or so, my desktop and the start & co. bar dissapears and the explorer.exe along with other system processes dissapear from my task bar. When i open it as a new task, it comes on for 5 seconds, then rapidly dissapears again and reappears for another 5 seconds afterwards.
Now I can no longer open my drives or my computer, or at least they die as fast as explorer.exe
I've tried scanning using spybot, but the problem doesnt fix itself even after i delete all the infected files....
I've even tried restoring the system back to the "last known good configuration", but that doesn't work either...
What can I do now, i'm desperate, should I permanently reinstall my operating system?
