So I recently reinstalled windows, but then went on vacation and forgot to install noscript for firefox or spybot, and then when i remembered it was apparently too late. Spybot keeps detecting win32.bho.je, but can't kill it. It initially found 5 or 6 things and killed all of them, but it wont kill this even at startup. Google tells me i need to reinstall windows, but if theres another way that'd be awesome. Also, it said not to post hijack this log, so i guess tell me if any other info is needed

Thanks,
Khalid

One thing I forgot to mention. At first I thought the firefox google bar was messed up so i went to reinstall it. It wouldnt let me uninstall, except that now firefox doesn't show up on add/remove programs (It still works and shows up in other shortcuts and stuff). Don't know if that is relevent or what.

Anyway, thanks for helping, here's the hijackthis log.

win32.BHO.je 1 entry

(SBI $426E0B56) Browser Helper object
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\{DF47DD37-AC11-4A93-8E16-2B2364AF0897}

ZlobDownloader.vdt 6 entries (it had killed this before but i guess it came back and this time 1 of them wasnt able to be killed.)

(SBI $549179C0) Browser helper object
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\{6860A44B-5D3E-433D-A7B5-D517F810D0E7}

Hi

We need first to disable TeaTimer that it doesn't interfere with fixes. You can re-enable it when you're clean again:

1. Run Spybot-S&D in Advanced Mode.
2. If it is not already set to do this Go to the Mode menu select "Advanced Mode"
3. On the left hand side, Click on Tools
4. Then click on the Resident Icon in the List
5. Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts.
6. Restart your computer.

Open HijackThis, click do a system scan only and checkmark these:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {6860A44B-5D3E-433D-A7B5-D517F810D0E7} - (no file)
O2 - BHO: e404 helper - {DF47DD37-AC11-4A93-8E16-2B2364AF0897} - (no file)

Close all windows including browser and press fix checked.

Reboot.

Please do an online scan with Kaspersky Online Scanner (http://www.kaspersky.com/downloads/kws/kavwebscan.html). You will be prompted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.
The program will launch and then start to download the latest definition files.
Once the scanner is installed and the definitions downloaded, click Next.
Now click on Scan Settings
In the scan settings make sure that the following are selected:

o Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:

+ Extended (If available otherwise Standard)

o Scan Options:

+ Scan Archives
+ Scan Mail Bases

Click OK
Now under select a target to scan select My Computer
The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run. Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
Please do not use your computer while the scan is running. Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
Click the Save Report As... button (see red arrow below)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v666/sUBs/Kas-SaveReport-1.gif
In the Save as... prompt, select Desktop
In the File name box, name the file KasScan-ddmmyy (or similar)
In the Save as type prompt, select Text file (see below)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v666/sUBs/Kas-Savetxt.gif
Now click on the Save as Text button
Savethe file to your desktop.
Copy and paste that information in your next post.

Note: This scanner will work with Internet Explorer Only! Keep ALL other programs closed during the scan

Note for Internet Explorer 7 users: If at any time you have trouble with the accept button of the license, click on the Zoom tool located at the right bottom of the IE window and set the zoom to 75 %. Once the license accepted, reset to 100%.

Post:

- a fresh HijackThis log

Okay, so I did everything as you said, and then left my computer running the scan and went to eat dinner. I came back and my computer was off and the url you gave me was giving me a 404 file not found error. Was the scan a 1 time deal? I dont really know what happened, but if I can run the scan again i can watch to see what happens.
