I downloaded and ran a trojan by accident. I ran SDfix.exe that I got from another site, which removed the ads telling me to download their software to fix the problem. Now, Pc-Cillin (my anti-virus) slows down the computer like crazy and keeps telling me I still have the VUNDO trojan even though Spybot can't find it anymore.

Welcome to Safer Networking, I wish to be sure you have viewed and understand this information.
"BEFORE you POST" (READ this Procedure before Requesting Assistance)
http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=288
All advice given is taken at your own risk.
Please make sure you have read this information so we are on the same page.

You are still infected, I suggest you keep this computer offline except when troubleshooting, the junk may download more. If you have any tool I use, delete it and download it new from the link I provide. Read and follow the directions carefully, the tools will not work unless you do.
This can be a tough infection to remove so do not expect fast or easy.

First the KASPERSKY ONLINE SCANNER REPORT Tuesday, April 01, 2008 5:51:07 PM

1) C:\Documents and Settings\Scott Parker\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache\ <<< empty the infected Java cache
http://support.f-secure.com/enu/home/virusproblem/howtoclean/cleanjavacache.shtml

2) C:\Documents and Settings\Scott Parker\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\ <<< delete the contents of that TIF folder
(some old files may not delete, not to be concerned, the infected ones are newer)

3) C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\Internet Security 14\Quarantine\ <<< delete the contents of that folder in red

4) C:\SDFix\ <<< remove SDFix from your computer (infected backup will go with it)

5) Delete the files in red:
C:\vwhfxvxv.exe
C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\mail_mcea115.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\pmnljjJD.dll

6) Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2 Scan saved at 4:22:10 PM, on 01/04/2008

Hackers hide their junk from HJT, please do this...return here: C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis\HijackThis.exe <<< and rename HJT.exe, call it scoct.exe that will work. Restart the computer and post a new HJT log, hopefully we will see the infection.

Thanks

scoct

I could not find mail_mcea115.exe and it wouldn't let me delete pmnljjJD.dll

The junk has the ability to morph and return if all of it is not killed, which is what happened, let's try Vundofix once more.

1) Make sure you can see all files and folders

2) Disable Windows Defender, it will block the changes we must make.

3) Open Vundofix by Doubleclicking on it, then point your mouse to the white box above the buttons and right click, then click on Add More Files. When the "Select Files" Window opens copy and paste the file/s one at a time in the "File Name:" box and click Open to add them. When then are all added right click the Window and choose "Select All" then "Fix Vundo".

(Files to add)

C:\WINDOWS\system32\qqfkulma.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\mlJAtQGw.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\dslxggkq.dll

4) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

O2 - BHO: {001314b1-a7fd-6bb8-99a4-a871a87272ca} - {ac27278a-178a-4a99-8bb6-df7a1b413100} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\qqfkulma.dll
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {BD1C5347-7295-4C30-8402-C6ED1D6955D8} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\mlJAtQGw.dll
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [BMf77d21c0] Rundll32.exe "C:\WINDOWS\system32\dslxggkq.dll",s

5) Right click Start > Explore and navigate to these files/folders and delete them if there.

(make sure these files in red are gone)

C:\WINDOWS\system32\qqfkulma.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\mlJAtQGw.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\dslxggkq.dll

Restart and post the Vundofix report and a new HJT log.

Thanks

That looks like a clean HJT log, good job following those complex instructions:bigthumb: How is the computer running now?

Remove Vundofix and the C:\Vundofix Backups\ folder and run a new Kaspersky Online Scan using these settings so we can see what is left, I know we have infected System Restore files to clean yet.

* The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
* Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
* Now click on Scan Settings
* In the scan settings make that the following are selected:
* Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
* Standard
* Scan Options:
* Scan Archives
* Scan Mail Bases
* Click OK
* Now under select a target to scan:
* Select My Computer
* This will program will start and scan your system.
* The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
* Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
* Now click on the Save as Text button:
* Save the file to your desktop.

Then post it here.

Thanks...Phil
